  • So we could be looking at limited minutes till conference at worst and taped up and running in a few days at best?

That's not terribly bad but I do hope it is a light sprain for sure. I want to see him get 5 more blocks on Tulsa :)

Might have NBA potential and might get there (... someday ...)
Was behind Durley, Stutz in the lineup until now
Would have started at many MVC schools from day 1 (and would now have better stats)
Seems to be well liked by teammates
      He is EO!!!
      Fixed !!!

I would rather rest him and let him get well than play him injured against Tulsa. Save him for Tennessee or even UNI.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

        • The way EO was reacting, I suspect the injury is more than a mild sprain. With mild sprains, a player will stand, test his foot gingerly and then try to walk it off. There was none of that. EO was on the floor and holding his leg, while appearing to be in more than minimal pain.

          • I think that's what has me worried. Maybe the true test of everyone's views on EO will be how the team handles a period without him.

            • On a summer game I witnessed, EO went down with a nagging leg issue, which reminded me of the other night versus Iowa. Let's hope EO is fine and we keep our team injuries minimal this Season.

              • The example I gave previously was for a severe ankle sprain. Mild ones don't cause much problems really.

                • EO walked off the court . Then he took a couple of steps on a flat foot on the sidelines before he sat down - and stayed down the rest of the night.

I've had some bad sprains. If there would have been anybody to help me so I wouldn't have to put an ounce of weight on that ankle, I would have waited for the help rather than attempt a second step on a freshly, and badly, sprained ankle. If I would have had to walk or put weight on that foot, I would have been walking on tiptoe on that foot. Tiptoe doesn't hurt nearly as much as flat foot on a sprained ankle.

It's impossible to gather much info from what we can see, but I think there's reason to be optimistic that it could be minor.

Nothing is minor when it comes to EO. :)

                    • Everyone here knows that EO could have a poor game against Tulsa or he could hit 5 or 6 midrange 10'-15' shots. Who knows? I hope HCGM allows EO to try some midrange shots when we are playing an overmatched opponent (like Tulsa) because it will open things up for him near the basket if opponents have to respect his "jump" shot. (Does EO even need to jump?)

I understand the concern about EO shooting. However WSU might have an easier time beating a team like Creighton if EO has some type of offensive game beyond 5 feet. If Echenique doesn't think EO can or will shoot from beyond 5', how do you draw GE away from the basket so Williams or Armstead or VanVleet can use his speed to get to the basket? (I like layups and dunks rather than runners/floaters which one hopes get over GE and go in; I saw several of those miss in recent games.)

                          What about Illinois State? UNI?

                          • You set screens with EO. If GE stays in the paint then there is a Shocker with a wide open 3 or midrange. He has to chase EO around the perimeter to help on screens.

I don't agree. Based on WSU three point shooting, I would leave GE in the paint to take away WSU points in the paint and live with a few threes by the Shocks.

I see your logic since the Shockers are shooting 30% from 3 and EO is shooting 100% career outside of 5 feet.

Also, GE guarding against EOs 10 footer puts him all of 6 foot from the basket. No way he can recover from that!
