The fact that our coach is Gregg Marshall shouldn't matter.
Trends shouldn't matter. It should be about the entire season. Games in Nov/Dec should still matter as much as games in Jan/Feb.
I believe these things, and yet I believe WSU should still be easily in the tournament.
If the idea is for the best teams to be in the tournament, AND the tournament is played at the end of the season, then it makes sense to favor the teams that are the best at the end of the season. If someone wants to judge which teams would be in if the "tournament began today," then fine -- stop the damn season and play the tournament today. But otherwise, deal with the reality that exists at the end of the season when the tournament occurs.

I've seen teams do this in baseball; in fact, the Shocks used to do it themselves back in the good old days of unlimited games, and play a series after the conference tournament. Basketball teams could do it too; but they'd have to leave a spot open, because they're limited as to how many games they're allowed -- and how many teams are going to leave a spot open in their allotment if they don't know whether it will ever come into play? Not everyone can count on a full house the way WSU can.
(Actually, the same is true in baseball now too -- i.e., there's a schedule limit -- but you still see it occasionally because of rainouts. Games lost to weather or such events are far less common, although not totally unheard of, in hoops.)

I wonder what the average point margin is for all teams that have won against Top-50 rpi teams this year. Boy would that be a task to figure out. I do not volunteer...lol
But for conversation purposes say that it was 10 points avg. victory for teams that have won against top-50 rpi teams. Heck maybe it's only a 5 point avg. margin. Well then ...could Wichita St's 41 point victory margin against isur be considered winning 4 top-50 games. Ha-ha.
But seriously...I wonder how many other teams have beaten a top-50 rpi team by 40 freakin points???FINAL FOURS:

Everyone says that no 1 or 2 seed wants to see us in the 2nd round, but we suck, look at our resume...
Its as if our 1st round game is a given win, but we may not belong in thd tourney.
Which is it ****tards?"When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!

They absolutely do consider the name and coach and prior success when the committee picks the tournament field. UK was a 1 seed in the NIT that year with a 21-12 record, suggesting they were right on the bubble. Are you telling me WSU would have sniffed the tournament with a 21-12 record? The fact that UK was considered a bubble team actually bolsters the argument that the committee cares about name and past success.
Being able to point to a single time in recent years that a blue blood missed the tournament doesn't mean that the committee ignores recent success for teams.

Talked about this ad nauseum, but replace a few of our home cupcakes with road, neutral, and real home games we are not talking about this. Also, St. Louis and Tulsa SHOULD be good games. Also, win one of OSU, MSU, Louisville games. Also, the Valley sucks.Wichita State, home of the All-Americans.

Frankly, we weren't that good in November. You add two more losses to our schedule, and I think we aren't talking about it only because we know we have to rely on the auto-bid to get in.
