    Conspiracy Theory 101.

Could it be that Palm is in league with Elgin to keep the Shockers out of the dance and therefore WSU won't be as attractive to the Big East, AAC, MWC? And or HCGM won't be as attractive either?

No kidding. On what planet should UNI be better? I actually think this year is about where they should be.

They won games they shouldn't have (OU, @MSU) lost a couple they shouldn't have (MSU home, George Mason, @ Bradley) maybe, MAYBE they should be 1 game better.

But next year? They lose 2 of their 3 best players in Morgan and Ashton. Certainly their most athletic and arguably their 2nd most athletic.

Now, I like the Lohaus kid if he can come back healthy but he's hardly a game changer. They can count on Koch and Carlson and Lohaus but there's no real stud there at all. Everyone else who MUST play (McCloud, Haldeman and who???) have to get a lot better to be .500 in this league.

      • WSU now in 111 of 115 brackets. ISU in 73 of 115 brackets. For you math majors out there, that means 69 of the 115 brackets have two valley teams in. Tip of that hat to you, Mr. Palm. http://bracketmatrix.com/

          • If you think Wichita State should miss the NCAA Tournament, think again

A lot of good points in this article from Parrish, but one I like in particular:

Everybody can acknowledge Oklahoma State isn’t the same team it was when the Cowboys started 0-6 in the Big 12. And everybody can admit Indiana isn’t the same team now that it was when the Hoosiers started 8-1 with wins over Kansas and North Carolina.

Some teams get better with time.

            Others get worse.

That’s true in all sports over the course of a long season. And yet in college basketball, a sport that fancies itself as inclusive, the system only works one way for schools outside the power structure. Those types of schools, like Wichita State, are allowed to spend January and February squandering good bodies of work created in November and December. But the selection committee’s guidelines make it difficult, bordering on impossible, for schools outside the power structure to improve bodies of work in January and February even if the smart computers recognize and reflect an increase in quality.

My theory is that by pitching us as a team that NEEDS to win Arch Madness, it ups the ratings for a potential MVC final on...CBS

                • My two cents:

Our success in prior seasons and name recognition won't matter, and it shouldn't. Otherwise, you'd automatically include blue bloods even if they had a year like 2013 Kentucky, who was bounced in the first round of the NIT after winning the title the year prior.

The fact that our coach is Gregg Marshall shouldn't matter.

Trends shouldn't matter. It should be about the entire season. Games in Nov/Dec should still matter as much as games in Jan/Feb.

I believe these things, and yet I believe WSU should still be easily in the tournament.

We posted the same thing but on different threads. It was about what I was expecting then to say. We definitely pass the eye test, but only 1 top 50 win and 2 top 100 wins are where they are beating us up.

                          • WSU and Gonzaga have a week off before the NCAA tourney. Maybe WSU should give them a buzz and see if they wanna play?????? :)

Seth is guaranteeing us as a lock for an at-large based on what we look like. Jon continues to bring up lack of quality wins and says it'll go against everything the committee is told they do. He did say we look like an NCAA team but our resume doesn't stack up.

But Seth made a good point. Our resume may be weak, but compared to the other middling garbage we're up against, we should be a no-brainer. Teams losing 7 of their last 9 games and looking like **** don't deserve passes over teams that are beating the absolute piss out of teams they are supposed to and doing so without the luxury of having an off-night.

One positive thing about all this bubble talk, we sure get talked about in the media a ton. Would I prefer to be Cincy, VCU, Dayton, etc., yes, but those teams get almost no pub. We have new articles written about us almost on the daily.
