I will be shocked if we end up in Tulsa with a 2nd round (are we calling it that again?) possibility against the Beakers. It was novelty last time, the committee won't let it happen again.

If we would have lost the first match up, they would absolutely match us up again. They wont put us against them again, let alone in Tulsa which makes it closer for the 8/9 seed than the 1 seed.

Agreed. They lose Morgan, their only above-average Valley player, only playmaker, and one of their 2 athletic players. They also lose Ashton, their other athletic player.

Carlson has been a huge bust this season. Kind of pokes a hole in my thoughts on them for the next year or 2.

Call me stupid. But I don't see how a team with a sub .500 conference record that doesn't Win the conf tourney can make it in as an at large over a team like Illinois State or Middle tenn that might not win the conf tourney but still played right and got a ton of wins.

I am so tired of conference offiliation getting poor teams in the tourney. It shouldn't factor that they are 1-5 against top 50. They didn't win enough to deserve to dance.

You hear how it's about getting "the best teams", but that's not completely true because many of the conferences don't send their "best team" and sometimes it's even the top conferences.

So is it about the best at large teams? Perhaps, but I submit this. A team that's lost the plurality of games against tournament quality teams has somewhat been given their chance to show they belong, especially when half those games are at home, and especially when compared to a team that has had much fewer opportunities and next to none, or none, at home. I realize there are close calls out there. But a couple of home wins, 10 quality losses and little if any challenges in the non-con, especially when all your games are home or neutral should not get you in before an impressive resume with few chances against the power teams, and none (or one) at home.

Yeah, I think many UNI fans are in a sky-is-falling mode right now. It sucks for WSU and the MVC as a whole because it makes no sense considering their performance of the past 5-10 years, and the fact the same guy has be running the ship the whole time.

At this point, it's much more likely that Carlson had a couple of outlying good games in big spots. His body of work suggests little more than an average Valley player (outside of WSU), at best.

Fricken Valley.

Jacobson is a very poor recruiter. He does pretty well for what he gets, but most of his players wouldn't make the majority of D1 teams. He gets 1 or 2 players that are quality, and the rest is just a bunch of fillers. When those filler overachieve (like parts of 2016, and in 2015) then they are good.

Bracket Matrix just updated this morning. On 111 of 115 brackets. Two of those are biased gasbags (Palm and the Creighton doosh), so really we're on all but two brackets out of 113.

Even the Creighton guy has us as the First Team out and hasn't updated it since the 20th. There is a very realistic chance we would move into his bracket too when he updates. And as I said earlier, one of the brackets is an obvious error as it has no MVC teams and we were a 7 seed in his bracket earlier in the week. So really we are not in 1 bracket plus Palm's
