  • The national powerhouse statements in the media continue with this article about Seton Hall's schedule: http://www.thesetonian.com/2015/09/1...ns-basketball/

    From the article:

"Current seniors Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet have turned Wichita State into a national powerhouse in recent years. ESPN’s Dana O’Neil wrote in July, “they are partners in what arguably will be one of the best backcourts in college basketball.” O’Neil also wrote that the team will be on most top 10 lists to start the year."

A double-hedge. Really sticking the neck out.

      • Also from the SH article referenced above:

Whitehead, Khadeen Carrington and transfer Derrick Gordon will have their hands full against WSU, but that type of contest gives Seton Hall the chance to make a booming national statement.

        • David Kyles to play with the Lakers D League team and Spurs D League team? I didn't see anything officially released from the teams.

          • Here's another guy who I wouldn't be shocked to see get a little run someday. He is surely athletic enough. His experience level will be higher now that he has been playing professionally in Europe for several years. He always had the talent.

            • If we make the dance for the next five straight years, always win at least the first game, and make it to the Sweet 16 or better a couple of times (or more!) in that stretch, then we can start being considered a Gonzaga level program. We are approaching it, but probably need just a bit longer track record.

I'm not sure I totally agree.

Gonzaga is known for consistently making the tourney, but not much else. At some point higher performance in less volume has to outweigh lower performance in higher volumes, doesn't it? I mean in the past ten years WSU has 3 S16's, 1 E8, and 1 F4 in 5 appearances. Gonzaga has the same line, minus the F4 game changer, over the course of 10 appearances (in a league very much similar to the modern day MVC). They are more known as a flame out than anything else. I'm not sure what the national vibe on WSU is currently, but it is most certainly not a flame out.

I see your point. My main thing is I think we have to carry our streak out a little bit longer before we get our swag to the same consistency level. But you are right we definitely are starting to show that when we do make the dance, we make the most of it.

                    • Thanks!

New road unis. Kinda bland, but maybe the kids dig them as throw backs.

Even his head looks big. That's a guy that's going to weigh 260 as a senior.

A co-worker told me a story about how he was at the airport, wearing a Shocker polo, and someone tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and looked (way) upward. It was Eric Hamilton, and my co-worker said he was a really nice guy.

So yes, my co-worker also would vouch for how huge he is. Haha.
