I'm pretty sure Coach would like us to say that he is not going anywhere because he has made our job the best job. That would be us "getting it" like his players get it. I again don't see why someone who has done more than any coach in College Basketball from where he started with us to where he is now would want to go Coach in the shadows of some other Coach or University's tradition. I don't think Gregg would have done the unparalleled great things that he has done just so he could go take someone elses car for a spin for a few years. He IS Wichita State Basketball and it is the juggernaut that it is because he is changing the balance of power, not just so he can go jump on the UNC, KU, UCLA, Duke, Indiana bandwagon and coast to the end of his career. His Greatness is what he has made us and will continue to make us. Look at the press we have gotten this week. People out there are starting to "get it" too. So, in the next 24hours, pull up your big boy pants, put on your winning tshirt, Our Coach is ours, we love him and he isn't going anywhere and we are going to win this thing!!!!!!!!!GO SHOCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Crean is a really, really good coach. From all that I've seen, the problem is that, unlike Marquette, Indiana wouldn't let Crean discipline the players the way he needed to. Crean is going to go on a huge run at his next job.
Marshall knows all of this. Why live in the shadow of Bobby Knight?

Like others have said, it sucks that IU along with every other team has to start this BS during tournament time, but I'm glad it's opening up this year as opposed to next year. We don't just have great players coming back, I think we have special players that are very capable of making a very special run this year and next. He can win a title here, and he's established himself as Wichita State basketball. He is our Bear Bryant. I'm not cocky that coach will be here his whole career, but I like our chances very much.
I wouldn't be surprised if IU had Chris Holtmann as one of their targets. He's maintained a pretty high standard at Butler after Stevens left (although many people will probably argue he's still riding the Brad Stevens wave still), is fairly young and probably knows B1G area pretty well for recruiting. Not that IU would necessarily need it to be, but I'm sure it would be nice that he would be a much more affordable candidate.

Not sure there's any truth to the matter, but the fact the #1 media outlet in Indiana doesn't even waste time talking about the perpetual "number one guy" on everyone's list, every year, could be an insiders hint of that rumor having legs.
Sounds similar to the story I've heard

I've seen prior talk similar to what some are saying in the above. More forum talk though, and no link.

Well the CAVE-ers had children and grandchildren, and they ended up populating WSU's SGA, and a small proportion of the student body. They're against everything that might help move the University forward, in spite of the fact that: #1 - WSU remains a screaming cheap value as far getting a traditional degree at a real school goes, and #2 - the ideas to move WSU forward might add <2-3% onto the ultimate total cost of their education.
We could call them the WSU SAVE-ers, only they're not saving anything, and are in fact a hinderance to the progress and transformation of WSU. They're more like a parasite or a cancer, actually.

They were against the idea of what would become IBA, against the downtown casino (successfully killed off by the CAVE-ers), against Waterwalk (successfully nuetured and permanently hindered due to the early work of the CAVE-ers and their leader Mayor Carlos Mayans), and so on and so forth.
