I personally think Quincy Acy improves our odds of getting Abmas. I have a feeling his work in the NBA and being part of development for the G League will be VERY attractive to Abmas.

        • NIL and the portal have leveled the playing field. No longer will schools like UK, KU, UNC, and Texas be the only schools to get kids with money. Schools like FAU will be on equal footing.

I hope you are right, but I can't imagine FAU ever having the disposable cash that Texas has.

They don't have to have as much, they just need to be in the ballpark that Texas is willing to spend. It isn't about only how much you have, but also how much are you willing to spend.

              • Imagine going to a UT booster and asking how much of their NIL money they wanted going to basketball. There will be exceptions, like Nigel Pack's deal with Miami, but football will rule NIL money.

                • The NIL and transfer rules are a giant CF and are likely to always be. The management problems for players and coaches, not to mention athletic departments in general take college basketball galaxies from its mission. No one really knows it’s mission any more. Least of all the NCAA. My sunshine pumping for Easter Sunday. :)

The other thing in play, is while football schools have more money, they need more money. A basketball school with a $750,000 NIL fund is equal to a football school with a fund of $5,654,000.

Patrick Ewing would be proud of this logic!

Yeah but .... imagine going to a former UT _player_ in the NBA (past and present) and asking how much of their NIL money they want going to basketball ...

                        • I get some aspects of the portal, but inter conference transfers still feel a little weird to me.

Wildass guess would be that Texas has 30 milllion

That number may be low. Texas had 5 separate NIL collectives (at least?) which merged into 1 large Group.

                              • Miami supposedly has 10 million. Seems we should be able to reach the equivalent 1.5 million.
