I don't think we'd be waiting three weeks to meet with him at this point. If Jans isn't announced, or leaked, by Friday it's not happening. If Kelsey is a top candidate he's still coaching so that would delay that one until CoC loses.

The chances of Mark Turgeon returning to coach the Wichita State men’s basketball team, a job he left some 16 years ago, are likely extinguished.

Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation told The Eagle that Turgeon declined the job offer from WSU athletic director Kevin Saal on Sunday and has removed himself from consideration.

Speculation about a possible reunion gained steam immediately following Saturday’s decision by Saal to fire Isaac Brown one day after the Shockers wrapped up their season.

Turgeon, a Topeka native who turned 58 last month, has been away from the coaching world since mutually agreeing to part ways as the Maryland head coach on Dec. 3, 2021, citing burnout.
According to those same sources, Turgeon is not entertaining a return to the sidelines at this time.

This new news that Taylor dropped makes me think Jans isn't even in the picture with Saal. I knew Jans would be a hard get based on finances of us and MSU, but if he immediately offered the job to Turgeon it lets me down. There are a number of better options before trying to go back to that well.


Jans is pretty much off the list in my mind now.

And if Griffin is no longer interested he's a no go.
