Would you rather have a couple of recruits or a guy that has proven he can recruit and win at a high level? I'd take Jans in the head chair over any current player or recruit we have and I'd feel much better about the future of the program.
I know you're not saying the recruits are more important, but I swear I've seen at least one person make the argument that because we landed recruits over him, it must be some sort of sign.

I think Griffin would be a home run hire. Hardaway has shown that NBA connections open doors for high-level recruits. I think Griffin could recruit at a level that would rebuild the roster a lot faster than an "Up and Coming" coach that recruits don't know much about.
I also think Griffin could maintain a roster. In the current NIL and transfer environment there are some real advantages that Griffin would have based on his experience in the NBA. He could leverage his time with FVV as well. I think he'd be good for fan interest and opening donor wallets.
Hardaway = NBA player / HS and AAU coach
Griffin = NBA player / High level NBA assistant coach
Memphis did the experiment and it's working. WSU has an opportunity to follow the model.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
I’m intrigued by Griffin for sure but I need to know more about him and what motivates him to want to be a HC in the league versus college. I know not many on this board care for Bill Self but I always think of advice/comment he gave on becoming specifically a college head coach. Paraphrasing but you’ll get the overall point, if you love basketball, love teaching basketball, love developing basketball players then go to the NBA or high school because you’ll be rewarded for that love there better than in college. College coaches and specifically head coaches spend the least amount of their time doing basketball specific work. If you’re a basketball junky that loves scouting, recruiting, developing college coaches, and most importantly glad handing alumni and rallying the base aka “fundraising” over that love basketball then you should be a college coach.
This is where our current HC falls so very short in being a college head coach. Sure, he’s a basketball junky but really wants nothing to do with the absolutely necessary elements needed outside of basketball to be a successful HC.
My only concern, with the little I know now, would be if he has the same disdain for the non basketball elements of being a college HC.

I was told two years ago that when we upset Houston, some big donors invited IB to come celebrate the big win…but he declined. That was when I knew that IB absolutely could not be named head coach.
