I know many here tire of Jay Bilas (I'm one of them), but I have to say, his idea for selecting and seeding the tournament field doesn't suck. (ESPN+ content, for those who subscribe)

In a nutshell, he says rank the top 68 teams using only their regular season results. As conference tournaments complete, if the champion isn't among the top 68, they get added and the bottom team drops off. Once all tournaments are completed the remaining 68 is your tournament field. He says this keeps middling power-5 teams (like Duke) from improving their resume with one or two neutral-court wins.

He has WSU at 45.

I'm still standing by my opinion the conference tournament should have been canned and regular season games made up. Of course, we may not have a championship with that outcome, so WDIK?

I like his plan in general. I take exception to the idea that each team picked the conference they wanted to join. Wichita state might have chosen to be in the MVC back in 19??, but they didn’t continue to want to be in 2015. WSU didn’t choose the American Conference, they had to invite WSU. WSU might have wanted to be in the Atlantic Coast Conference or another conference, but that was not their option.

Other than that, I like his idea of ranking 68 teams after the season and go from there. Don’t always like him, but not a bad idea.

That's good for now, but seeding does not matter at all right now, at least for WSU. It might for half of the b10 and the other b10.

I like Bilas' theory that you don't count conference tournament games either for or against your resume. Resume should be complete at the end of the regular season. Then, the conference tournament is played only to select a champion.

It still boggles my mind that the MWC has three in and a fourth on the bubble. Absolutely insane. I have watched a ton of MWC games being out west and a peripheral SDSU fan. That conference is not worthy of three let alone four bids.
