I don't see how not playing on Sunday is that big a deal. Not like the whole conference plays on Sunday. Does the NCAA always put them in a Thursday Saturday bracket?

Yea. IIRC, the Committee screwed this up once (early 90s?) and it caused a huge headache to rearrange a handful of game days and time slots after the fact.

Makes a difference for tournaments as well as in other sports, volleyball, women's basketball, etc.

It is sort of mind-blowing that BYU has never been able to sniff a P5 invite. IMO, their academics, institutional support for athletics, huge supply of $$$, and enormous/widely distributed fan base would make them the steal of the decade if the Big 12 deigns to ask them in.

Academic elites are always going to push hard to keep BYU out of their conference. Every D1 school with a religious foundation has essentially abandoned their fundamental side prior to getting a big conference invite. BYU is still fundamental Mormon, and I doubt they are going to bend.

This is widely considered to be reason numero uno that BYU has never gotten a call from the P10/12, but I don't think other conferences are quite so overwhelmingly liberal.

It's a pretty big deal if your conference has a deal with ESPN and they want to set all the game times.

Anybody know how BYU has handled conference tournaments? Have they ever been in a conference that had a tourney final on Sunday?

For the record, I'm not in favor of bringing football back. But I like that Bardo has a sense of humor and I believe he knows an overwhelming majority of people will understand it's a good-natured tease.
