    • AAC All-Academic Team Includes 167 Shockers

      https://goshockers.com/news/2022/7/7...-shockers.aspx

Nearly two-thirds of all Wichita State student-athletes received academic honors from the American Athletic Conference Thursday, and for the third-consecutive year the Shocker men's golf team was singled out for a Team Academic Excellence Award.

Not sure how to view this in relation to our fellow conference members. The Shocks have the lowest total number of honorees of the 11 full members but the Shocks don't have football or soccer. If we count the 21 Navy football honorees as part of our the Shockers are 9th finishing just ahead of Houston and Tulane. The best metric to compare would probably by the % of all student-athletes receiving honors and the average GPA of all honorees. The Shocks report that 65.5% of it student athletes received academic honors which sounds very good but not sure how it compares to the other AAC schools.

The team awards perhaps deserve a bit more attention. In that regard Cincinnati kills it with 10 team awards (4 are those are for sports WSU does not sponsor). I think Tulsa was next at 4. Having separate awards for XC, Indoor T&F and Outdoor T&F may be a bit artificial. Those accounted for 3 of Cincinnati's team awards and 2 of Tulsa's team awards.

The Shocks men's golf team won the team award for that sport with a combined hour-weighted average GPA of 3.699. That's pretty impressive work guys.
