Is the C7 taking Creighton all but a gaurantee now? I haven't seen anything about the C7 for a while now either.
Most figure CU is in the C7, but there are some thoughts that they may be "too far" west. I've seen talk of Richmond pick up a bit. It's possible that they go with Butler, Xavier, Dayton, SLU and Richmond. I've even seen Duquesne thrown around a little.

With that said, I think the odds of CU getting in are better than not, but I wouldn't call it a guarantee.

    • I know more goes into additions than just RPI, but I have a long list of schools that have been mentioned here and there on this topic in the NCAA forum. I've compared them to the MVC and believe we could make some additions that would keep the MVC strength fairly good. UE is easy to replace based off of the RPI numbers and their lack of dedication to investment. CU won't be replaced with an equal, but there are options that would appear to be upper half teams and that COULD be better with an upgrade in conference affiliation.

      • And then sometimes, I just have the opinion the CU can just go, already. Leave, whatever. Dont care. WSU will still have games to play, and Ill root for them to win them.

        • Is New Mexico State actually going to stay in the new WAC??? They must be looking to move.
Tulsa isn't too happy with their current conference either.

They want to find a home for football. I wonder if we and the Sun Belt could work together on that. They don't want to go that far for all sports, but may consider football, and then we could take in their basketball.

Tulsa is expected to join the BE football schools.

My "keyboard confidence" extends from my fingers down to my toes.

You would be mistaken referring to me as a little man.

All it takes is for one FB team to make a deal and the BEast is GONE. If a BCS conference wants another team that's currently in the BEast, all they have to do is tell the team to vote to disband the league and they'll get an invite to another league the next day. That would be very attractive to any FB team that's still in the BEast. Plus, no exit fees. That leves the Catholic schools free to do something and it's apparent something is going on there.

If they invite CU, CU is gone in a heartbeat. WSU seems like a long shot to join a mostly Jesuit conference, but we are ranked (2 years in a row now) , we put 10K butts in seats, and we pay our coach $1.5 mill. We have what appears to be a stable program and a clearly committed athletic department. We fit the blueprint of the schools they would be looking at. We don't have a great TV market, but we're in the Top 25. Top 25 teams have an automatic TV market. Look at our program nd our recruits, and there's reason to believe we could be Top 25 (or near) for the next several years.
Simple solution: Leveraged buyout. Take WSU private, re-establish our Congregationalist ties and go back to being called Fairmount...

Plausible... very plausible... certainly as plausible as our secular institution being invited to join a private, religious affiliated conference...

Considering HCGM said he was initially attracted to our program because the Valley usually gets multiple NCAA bids, yes, that concerns me. He has said the thing that frustrated him about being at Winthrop was that he HAD to win the conference tournament to get into the Dance, and then he always had a double digit seed.

I hope when it comes time for ADES and Bardo to weigh in on conference realignment discussions, they heavily lobby against the Dakotas. We can do better.

Also, keep in mind EU leaving actually strengthens the conference, though.

                        • If CU and UE both leave, I wouldn't be opposed to them being replaced with Belmont, Milwaukee, Murray and ORU.

While the Valley is not the multi-bid conference he was promised, the rest has worked out well. He didn't have to make it to the championship game of the MVC tournament last year, and still got a 5 seed. This year, we still have to turn things around, but we are still being talked about as a single digit seeded at large.

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

I don't buy it. I'm fine if they don't get an invite but if the C7 brings in SLU, I don't know why they wouldn't bring in CU. And it's not like the C7 schools aren't used to traveling that far anyway.
