  • I've only seen one reporter mention an uneven distribution. Nobody else has. If they really do go with that, none of their top options would take it.

I hadn't seen any mention of the Dukes from many others, but I know it'd crossed my mind early as they're a respectable program, not great, in Pittsburgh. It will be interesting to see where this goes and how it all plays out.

    • I thought this was an interesting 'Tweet' by Mitch Holthus...

"1/31/13, 11:53 PM, West Virginia basketball will travel 31,128 miles this year-a complete circle around the equator is 24,906 miles-WVU-1.25 trips around Earth"

      Yikes!

The proposed unequal distribution was only to assist the Big East defectors in paying their exits fees. and only for a few years. Then distributions would equal out among all members.

I'd say, to h*ll with them. It was their choice to leave. Each of the other new teams may have their costs to leave as well. It will be all the combined teams that will create the TV package and future NCAA $s. Not one, but both revenues should be shared equally.

                  • I mean, they can just wait an extra year and avoid the exit fees if nobody wants to come in at the reduced rate for a few seasons. I'd probably toss it out there too if I were them and see if anyone bites.

                      • Thanks for all the brown info, guys. So in other words, no one WSU wants to be in a league with has brown (except, of course, Wyoming).

                        • More "brown" info...

"What can Brown do for you?" Oh, I can think of several things...

                            • On one of the C7 websites, the following idea came up:

"Would the better A10/MVC/CAA/Horizon schools try to cobble together a more compact league to compete?

Say its Dayton, SLU, Creighton, Xavier and Butler to C7. They could theoretically create a league like this:

                              VCU
                              Richmond
                              Wichita St
                              Duquesne
                              Detroit
                              GW
                              La Salle
                              St. Joe's
                              Valparaiso
                              Bradley
                              Loyola
                              Fordham"

Would you consider that conference a step up from the MVC (without Creighton)? Do you think that joining such a conference would be a good goal for Wichita State if they cannot join a higher level conference (MWC/C7)?

If you don't have at least 7 schools that were previously affiliated with one another, you do not get an auto-bid.

That's the main reason why the C7 are linked together and schools like Depaul aren't just dumped outright.
