But, you cannot tell me that someone who is in a nursing home who most likely has a pre-existing condition doesn't skew the Covid related numbers. It's a fact! Nothing personal. Just look at it this way: you didn't come to the conclusion that Covid was a hoax on your own. You took that idea from someone else (likely political) and then adopted it as your own. But what if that first influencer was wrong? What if this long battle you've been waging is merely with yourself? I'm not telling you to change your mind, I'm just suggesting a moment of reflection outside the echo chamber. What is the cost to you and your loved ones if you've been led astray? What's the cost to mine if I have? Look up Pascal's wager. Replace God with Covid.

What percentage of a community needs to be immune in order to achieve herd immunity? It varies from disease to disease. The more contagious a disease is, the greater the proportion of the population that needs to be immune to the disease to stop its spread. For example, the measles is a highly contagious illness. It's estimated that 94% of the population must be immune to interrupt the chain of transmission.

I'm interested to hear your (Kung's) thoughts on the issue if you see another possibility.

You aren’t even providing good arguments when you call the people you’re arguing with idiots or you just completely make stuff up. When did I or anyone on here say the disease was a hoax? You have to extreme up my stance a bit because you want to bolster your self-esteem for some reason. You have called into question every single aspect of Covid-19 save for the actual reality that it exists on earth. You are attempting to play a semantical game, and not very successfully I might add.

I have looked inward on many occasions regarding this very issue. My work requires that I be exceptionally self-aware. My conclusions are logical and rational and based on a preponderance of evidence. In fact, it is far more difficult to prove that Covid-19 is a hoax than it is the opposite.

Is it being used for political purposes? Of course, everything is used for political purposes in America. But that does nothing to affect the reality of the situation. And as I've mentioned before, it's really sad that it has become political. That falls squarely on the shoulders of The Donald himself. Had he stayed on the path he was on initially, the Dims would have absolutely zero ammo. But he had to become a denier. That makes me embarrassed for him and my political party.

I was in there a couple times around late Feb/early Mar and believe me, it was a cluster****. The last time I was in there I stood back in the corner near the bathrooms lol.

...that's in the middle of the freakin' summer!

In peak Flu season (Feb) we've had estimates as high as 500 deaths daily but never an official count higher than 750 weekly.

We are currently dying at a rate of 288,000 per year. With all the infections we've recorded over the last 4 weeks I would expect our death rate to rise. If it doesn't, it will be very exciting news indeed! In fact, if we are not spiking heavily by Aug. 4th... it would be cause for a socially-distanced celebration!

Our worst week since this all began was around 15,425 deaths (800k/yr rate).

See this is what I don’t understand? If we all closed down again after the July 4th palooza, then why is it taking a month more for deaths to incur. Seems like the lag time is getting bigger and bigger. What happened to 2 weeks and you’re dead?

Because CB was involved in the Wichita riots, the few nights that we had them. I think I remember seeing him. He was the only one raiding the QT on 21st Street and Arkansas with a mask on because he knows the exact effectiveness of masks and they save all lives.

Also 58 covid-19 patients in the regular hospital. To someone asking on deaths... These patients since the 4th tend to be in the younger groups. I think most of us oldsters are still keeping a wide distance if we can. The younger ones won't have as many deaths nor as quick I would imagine. I think we should also be concerned about the long term effects and encourage our younger family members not to take risks. This illness is more than just a respiratory deal. It attacks most of the body in ways the disease specialists still don't have enough understanding on.

It takes around 4-6 weeks to "process" (ugh) most of the deaths resulting from an infection spike.

The vaccine was found to be well-tolerated and there were no serious adverse events, according to the researchers. Fatigue and headache were the most commonly reported, they said. Other common side effects included pain at the injection site, muscle ache, chills and a fever.

Adrian Hill, director of Oxford’s Jenner Institute, told CNBC on Monday the strong immune response means the vaccine is more likely to provide protection against the virus, though nothing is guaranteed. He said scientists hope to begin human trials in the United States in a few weeks.
