We'll need to recruit at least five for the following year to be back to twelve. They have begun conditioning. The two freshmen, don't know what hit them. Much tougher than high school. The Ok State big transferred to another school; not sure which one, but I believe 1972 does.

As previously reported by OTWHC point guard Krystle Henderson has moved on. Also it looks like walk-on Brittany Taylor has decided to hang 'em up which is understandable. Big commitment for a non-scholarship player.
Actually, I think a roster of 12 is not a bad size. Most of the kids should get playing time during the year. We'll have to see how it goes for Senior Nicole Wells and the two incoming freshman. But Nicole showed last year that she can soak up some minutes as needed. The other 9 should play a lot.
As we have discussed our biggest issue is who will back up Jessica at the point. My guess is that duty will probably go to Jazimen Jones. But you never know. Maybe Molly, Darice or Alex could fill in as needed.

A streaky lefty, with a quick first step and good b ball iq.....just dont know wat happend. But I hope they dont let RELINA JOHNSON FROM EAST HIGH AND JADA LYNCH FROM HEIGHTS HIGH SCHOOL GET AWAY!!! those two girls would be a great asset to the team.We always lose area talent to out of state. Heare is to the hope the move in early, bigs will also be a need.

They have to want to be Shockers and man students want to move away from home for college if they have that opportunity and sometimes you simply can't overcome that. So if they choose to matriculate elsewhere it is not necessarily a matter of Jody LETTING them get away.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

It's possible that Jody thinks that local talent just isn't as good as talent elsewhere. That's not unheard of. I have no idea if that's the case.

Originally posted by Hovpen View PostIf Jody thinks local talent isn't as good as elsewhere, then the WSU program is doomed to be second fiddle. Area players have gone to KU, KSU, OU, OSU, Missouri State, Missouri, Boise State, New Orleans, Memphis, Wyoming, Arkansas, Houston, Central Arkansas, SMU, Virginia Commonwealth, Utah, Oral Roberts, Tulsa and Colorado. Perhaps the WBB program should take a page out of the volleyball program and lock up some of the area talent. We even had one at OU start in the final four, and two local girls started last season at OSU. It would be nice to know that they are at least talking to some of the local talent but from what parents are telling me, they are not.
And if you're still hearing that the WSU staff doesn't spend the time recruiting locally that they should, that tells me a lot. I'm not saying you pass up better talent from out of state, but we have a lot of talent in state and very little of it ends up here. Some are going to leave regardless, but there are many college kids who want to stay close to home so family can see them play or so they can be close to home cooking. Not every kid wants to get away and travel 100s of miles from home to play.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Darice Fountaine was recruited by WSU out of high school but chose Savannah State where her uncle is the President.
Fountaine was recruited to play for Wichita State out of high school but instead chose Savannah State, where her uncle, Dr. Earl Yarbrough, is the president.
There is no doubt some quality talent in the Wichita area and in Kansas although not sure that the depth of the talent pool is real deep. I wonder if some of the turnover in the coaching staff has anything to do with recruiting issues?
