  • No Doc...you're not crazy. I heard the same thing. He has a letter from the NBA saying he is one of the top prospects in Africa. I'm not sure if the reference about the "Nike Camp Visa" was meant to tie into EO's upcoming meeting....or just how hard it's been for WSU to get EO over here. Meaning "we are no Nike" in our struggle to get this kid to Wichita. But hopefully the NBA letter will help.

    • Did Danny Ainge endorse EO as NBA potential?

In all seriousness, this is great news that could make the end of the week very exciting.
Spoiler Alert: Bruce Willis was dead the whole time!

              • As corrupt as the goverment in Nigeria is I would think a letter from the NBA would make the price even higher to get out of country. Also is EO
required to pay his own way to river city or can WSU help with that expense?
"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media,
which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

                • Does anyone know where it is EO is applying for his student visa tomorrow? Is it Lagos? BTW, Lagos is 6 hours ahead of Wichita time.

                  • I think it will be Friday, at the very, very earliest, before we hear something.

Besides travel (I'm assuming the embassy is in Lagos) and communication difficulties, someone there has to process the visa, assuming it's even granted.

I'm thinking early-to-middle of next week is a realistic best-case scenario.

No, I'm just intrigued by the whole process of bringing international players in. The last time we tried it (Manny Gakou) he ended up not being able to play for 7 games because he played for a team where some of the other players (not him) took money. Iowa St had a player, Staiger, who had to sit out the whole '07-08 season and forfeit a year of eligibility because of the same thing. Nebraska is waiting on a ruling on a similar issue for a guy they are brining in next fall.

Before anybody flips out, I'm not saying EO took any money or played on a team where others did! I just find it interesting to follow recruiting. Because my employment has caused me to be involved with immigration issues in the past, international recruiting is especially interesting to me.

You may be right when we hear it, but unless schedules change there is going to be a phone call in the early morning from Wichita to Lagos involving relevant individuals. Personally, I hope to know something by the time I get to work.
