We have had a great team for the past 5 years, we've become a Top 10 program, we've been to the F4, we've been a #1 Seed to the NCAA Tournament, we're ranked in the Top 10 and Top 20 this entire year, we graduate our players, our kids are not arrested, our players have great character, etc. What Gregg says on a radio show to other wanna be coaches is the least of my worries and I hope he stays for a long time.

I've never heard anyone who knows his family ever speak ill of Gregg. His kids nice kids who are polite to everyone, Gregg takes time to talk to others in the public, and he is a fine person. I think that everyone on here who expects perfection needs to loosen up a little.
Early favorite for post of the year.

The times I've met coach in person he was nothing but friendly and engaging and I am just some dude.

And by stating "what you've heard" aren't you basically making a judgment? If I didn't want to make a judgment I would just keep my mouth shut.

Had a few "quality" conversations with Coach Marshall his first couple years. The third time, he remembered my sons name even though he had only met him once, two years before, during an autograph signing. Anyone who thinks Coach is difficult to get along with due to how he answers questions on a radio show that make us listening cringe need to realize they might not like anyone.

Spent some time with Kellen in Atlanta. What a great kid. Saw him graciously talk to every Shocker fan he saw. Only met Lynn and Maggie once, but they were cool as hell also.

Can we keep our thoughts on Coach in perspective to interactions that arent anonymous pot stirring BS?

I've listened to my fair share of coaches shows with Marshall as our head coach....and I'm gonna sound like a real ass-hole here....but 80% of the callers sound like COMPLETE MORONS. I mean seriously...where do most of these callers come from? Slow....take forever to try making a point.....SLOW......sound like they were kicked in the head by a mule....country-bumpkin maybe???....and did I forget to say SLOOOWWWW!!!!! Most of the time I listen...I'm like...."no **** Sherlock" to most of the callers questions or points. Like Coach Marshall hadn't ever thought of what the caller just asked. Lol

I'm always embarrassed for Coach listening to that show BUT thank God coach can handle it. He's a big boy. He could coach in New York City, Los Angeles or Wichita and still be very comfortable answering questions professionally and courteous. Sensitivity levels obviously are a bit higher in Kansas folks but he adjusted from Day 1. He's one of the BEST in the business and I think he has adapted to the Kansas "mentality" very well. For God's sake....don't run him off!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty please.

I have never had any one-on-one with HCGM. What we were talking about was his radio response.

People who don't like 3G fall into one or more of the following categories:
              1. An opponent of WSU who has a strong dislike for anything WSU. (Like I do for Nebraska and Creighton
              2. Just find something to rag about on every subject (not thinking of anybody in particular)
              3. Just plain jealous
              4. Have never spoken to the man one-on-one
              5. Are a chicken hawk of emaw
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Then I will never call again. And yes, you do sound like an ass hole, but I won't hold that against you.

Did I say I will never call again? I will wait till after next week to impose my ban. I want to ask coach about our free throw shooting woes. I have this theory I want to share with him that includes more time spent in practice shooting free throws. It's so obvious...I can't wait to hear his response. And on those rare occasions when players miss from the free throw line, in practice, it would be a great opportunity to also practice rebounding. It's kind of like working on two deficiencies in one drill. I think I'm on to something gang. Put next Monday on your calendar.

I'm not really surprised that he doesn't know about an expensive system only used by the NBA. If he really wanted to get any use out of something like that, he'd have to convince all the other Valley schools to pay to install it too.

Visited with HCGM several times. As many people as he meets, it always impressed me how many details he seems to know. That's sincerity and genuiness. He truly appreciates the support fans give the program. If you question anything about the PROGRAM, not him, but the PROGRAM you better have your **** together. There's a certain politician from NJ who has a similar style that will engage in a rock fight with someone at the first sign of incompetence and idiocy. Politics aside, most of the time you want those guys on your side as opposed to everything being spun through a talking point; I want to really know where the leader of my team really stands.

I thought there was some pretty good callers this week, enough that I thought we would get past some of the awkward people - but they finally got thru on the phone. Coach also was very complimentary of how young a caller sounded who claimed he has been a shocker fan for 50 years (of course he might have started counting time since conception).

We even got a answer of why Marshall was so angry at Drake with the Refs.
