Are you kidding me? The hypothetical proposed was ludicrous. I would bet that 90%
of SN posters would agree and 100% of those that have any basketball knowledge
and understanding of recruiting practices.
The way Framnkamp left KU invites microscopic evaluation of his record. An examination of his record at KU is not encouraging.
Those of us who have looked hard at stats and reported them are not being received well in this thread. We're "anti-Frankamp".
I've previously compared Frankamp's stats to some WSU players. Cotton, playing wing, had better stats for a PG than Frankamp, who was playing PG. It's unfair to compare Cotton as a Jr to Frankamp as a Fr, so I looked at Cotton's Fr stats. Cotton had better stats as either a PG or a SG in his Fr season than Frankamp.
To draw conclusions from Frankamp's extremely small sample as a freshman is ridiculous in in my opinion. But since many on here insist on only looking at the negative stats, let's look at some completely meaningless positive stats as well.
Assist/turnover ratio during their freshman year:
- Frankamp 5.00
- VanVleet 1.93
- Baker 1.39
- Cotton 1.00
- Frankamp had more blocks/minute than Cotton had as a freshman or sophomore.
- Career NCAA tournament FG%: Frankamp 50% ; VanVleet 30%.
Again, anyone who places any value on the stats I listed above is an idioit. Just like anyone who places significant value on his shooting % from last year. He was able to go from a FG% of .300 to .344 just by shooting 50% in the 2 NCAA tournament games. When a single hot or cold game can change your % that drastically you know the sample is incredibly small.
