  • About 2 mins before Connor went Connor, Lutz posted this on Twitter:

Frankamp is just not going to play with confidence this season, it appears. One of the biggest surprises of the year for me.

    Then a few tweets later:

I'm taking credit for Frankamp's career turnaround.

    Lol!

    • I liked the two free throws on the technical foul. Looked really good and the net hardly moved.

Everybody talks about his 4-7 performance KU versus Stanford in the NCAAs two years ago. That was also 2-4 in the second half, the other 2-3 was in the first half. That 4-7 brought him from 11/41 (.268) to 15/48 (.313) for the season.

His 2-4 last night brought his WSU 3-pt record up from 31-91 (.341) to 33-95 (.347). His total D-1 career is 48-143 (.336).

In post-season play, he was 4-9 with the beakers and is 3-7 with WSU. Better than his career-to-date overall at .438, but that should be a low for the "greatest shooter" Bill Self and Gregg Marshall have ever coached. Hopefully this is just the beginning of great things to come. For right now, I'd like to see him pump fake and draw some fouls and shoot FTs which he does very very well (career .844)
        Great, you can calculate percentages.

        • I think Connor is a little hesitate... I believe he's the kind of shooter who needs the complete green light, somewhat what Ron gets from Gregg, he needs to be able to let it fly without thinking too much about the consequences

It's just a matter of time. The sooner the better.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

I think that you are "barking up the wrong tree" here. Gregg said himself that he believes that it is going in every time Conner shoots it. Conner said himself today, that he is deferring to Ron and Fred. He said that "they are such great players" that he defers to them. Besides, it's not Gregg's style to take great shooters and hold onto them. Now for average shooters, he talks to them about what is a good shot for them and what isn't. Gregg's style when we haven't been shooting very well (and shooting too many 3's) is to talk to them about shot faking and driving, etc. not to avoid shooting the 3 but to get easy baskets, mid range jumpers, and open up shooters who are stepping into the 3 ball.

I hope so, I'm pulling for the hometown kid. I only saw that play one time through live, but I think he didn't secure the ball and hesitated before diving.

At which point I remember thinking "if he doesn't jump on that thing we're gonna see his face on a milk carton and Coach behind bars".

Announcer said "You can't leave him open." You can't expect a good shooter to be much more open that that on a half-court set. On a secondary break, sure, but not mid-to-late in the possession.
                        You're trying too hard.

Well he initially lost it, so he had to jump on the grenade to save face -- glad to see he did too! No problem making a mistake if you are capable and hungry to make up for it. Which sort of summed up his night. He had a really bad run for several minutes, then the light bulb switched on and he made a couple daggers.

Sorry to disappoint you, no I do not curse when Frankamp scores.

What burr did you sit on? I'm not trying anything. I just stated some facts, admitted my recollection of the one shot was not perfect, but that the announcer did say the second shot was open.

The most wide open of the made 3 pointers in the 2nd half was Fred's second one. That one was a practice session 3. I felt like Conner had defenders flying at him on both of his makes. On the 1st one I thought Fred was just a little bit slow in recognizing Conner was open allowing the defender to close out. Conner did have a bit more time on the 2nd one but it wasn't a practice session 3 IMO.
