    • Frankamp needs to rain a few more successful threes. That'll give him some credence.

      • Don't forget what else he did at KU. Shot a little below average during the regular season, but then was suddenly the (almost) hero against Stanford (LOL). He damn near won them that game by himself. Will he have similar heroics for us in the dance?

        • Well, Phi, the good news is that for the Shocks he'll probably have quite a bit more help than he was getting from his fellow Chickenhawks a couple of years ago against Stanford.

I think you were on to something there - keeping him under the radar until he is needed in the NCAA tournament, brilliant coaching by Marshall.

Way to hit some shots last night Conner - keep it up and just do your part and all is good and JJ might adopt you as part of Big Brothers.

            • My question is was JJ Clamdip cursing the TV last night late in the second half?

              ... No really, deuces.

              • Conner became a shocker officially last night when he dove for the loose ball at the top of the key! welcome to shockernation.

                • It was great to see Conner make two wide open 3s that emphasized the point of the dagger WSU inflicted on the Dores, but it was 2 of 4 shooting practice-like 3s. Everybody talks about his 4-7 performance KU versus Stanford in the NCAAs two years ago. That was also 2-4 in the second half, the other 2-3 was in the first half. That 4-7 brought him from 11/41 (.268) to 15/48 (.313) for the season.

His 2-4 last night brought his WSU 3-pt record up from 31-91 (.341) to 33-95 (.347). His total D-1 career is 48-143 (.336).

In post-season play, he was 4-9 with the beakers and is 3-7 with WSU. Better than his career-to-date overall at .438, but that should be a low for the "greatest shooter" Bill Self and Gregg Marshall have ever coached. Hopefully this is just the beginning of great things to come. For right now, I'd like to see him pump fake and draw some fouls and shoot FTs which he does very very well (career .844)

A physician called into a radio show and said:

                    • Having seen CF play a good number of times in HS I have to say I'm impressed with his unselfishness. Dude needed ice bags on his elbow after his North High games, but in our system he shoots only when it's a really, really good look. I think we would all like for him to channel some of that North High mentality a bit more. Here's to continuing to gain confidence and lighting this tournament on fire Connor.

Are you certain those were wide open threes? Granted I drank quite a bit but I remember deep, semi contested shots.

I haven't re-looked, but the deep one I recall as him having released the ball and the defender coming at him but still out of arm's length of touching him. The other, I believe the annouoncer even remarked how the defender had completely missed covering him.

Ok, yeah now that you mention it that seems accurate on the second one. I'll prob try to rewatch the game tonight. We could've used some guys making wide open shots against UNI so I'll take it!

                            • This one definitely wasn't in the category of so wide open it was like a shooting drill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnjkY2U111Q

The defender definitely closed out late in this one but it was not uncontested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiTpo_WRuC8

More contested than I remebered from watching live.

Announcer said "You can't leave him open." You can't expect a good shooter to be much more open that that on a half-court set. On a secondary break, sure, but not mid-to-late in the possession.
