  • He was very complementary of our Shocks.
They asked about the schedule and he responded that it's not who you play but how the team plays and that we can rebound, defend and shoot and we play the game the right way. He also listed the VCU, St Louis and New Mexico as teams that play the game the right way.

He was asked about the distractions of going undefeated and he responded that this team just gets prepared for the game at hand and doesn't get caught up in the hype.

He also mentioned that last year this team was in the final four and a bad call away from possibly even going farther.

Also not really "love", but fuel for the fire.

To say nothing of the content of the video, that broadcast studio and lack of identifiable media tie-in/branding really sums up how small-time Goatfeed is. I mean what the hell is that set used for when Goatfeed and his arm jewelry mouthpiece aren't bloviating from its chairs? Is it leased out for infomercials? Is porn being shot on the other side of that set wall as they speak?

BS. Everything in college basketball is about what you did in previous years. It's all about the name on the jersey, and the name on the jersey is built by previous success.

It's why there isn't one single person in the media that's criticized Syracuse, a program that can schedule any game they want, for choosing to play one single away game in the nonconference and play a noncon SOS of 100+. Any other team in the country would be shat on for having a SOS over 60, but Syracuse gets a pass because ... they're Syracuse.

Honestly, at this point, I'd like to see Gottlieb's bracket. And then I'd like it published. And then I'd like to hear the reaction of the 1-4 seeds of the region we are placed in.

              • It's kind of silly how Gottlieb is still able to make people angry on here. At this point don't we know his shtick?

Don't know who Allie Force (sp?) is but she should learn to either write her own material (so obvious she was reading Doug's notes for her) or learn she'll get a lot further in life with her clothes off and play to her strengths.

Actually, she was asking about you just the other day.

Goober (in his so-called hey-day) would be in a battle with John Robert Simon for PT at Wichita State and J.R. probably wins that fight.

                      • The American remains the hardest league to seed. The big gap between the top five and the bottom five has cause some schedule anomalies. Louisville is particularly tough because they have played a schedule of extremes. They're just 5-5 against the top 100 of the RPI after today's loss at Memphis, which doesn't translate to a high seed, but voters love them. Most of their schedule is against teams ranked 150 and below. The Cards overall strength of schedule is comparable to Wichita State's, but nodoby complains about Louisville's schedule.

Doug Gottlieb and Jon Rothstein, saying Wichita State doesn't belong as a No. 1 seed. Gottlieb went so far as to say "many" teams would be undefeated if they had the luxury of playing Wichita State's schedule.

If by "many" he means "probably zero," he's dead-on accurate. Because the last team to finish the regular season undefeated was Saint Joseph's in 2003-04. That was 10 years ago. Do the math for a second, or allow me: Ten years have passed. There have been roughly 330 schools playing Division I basketball. That means roughly 3,300 seasons had happened before Wichita State matched Saint Joseph's with a perfect regular season.

                        • NBCSN Sports Dash show debating whether WSU is the most disrespected team in all of sports right now. I didn't catch the guy's name (Brad something) but their college basketball expert had said that this was the case and mentioned the BYU win as one of our most impressive, which I hadn't heard in a while

                            • Man, if I wasn't a Shocker homer I'd be so sick of our coverage on ESPN right now. There is no way we are the most disrespected team. We are getting plenty of love. We just aren't getting 100% love. Which I'm fine with by the way. I love that our coach players and fans all have chips on our respective shoulders.

But look at http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebaske...espnapi_public -- Ron Baker popping his jersey is the photo of the week.

Also read the article -- it has some media love in it. It also has some cold hard truth in it -- this year is a bad year for teams outside the top 10 conferences. From Conferences 11-32 I believe WSU is probably the only lock at large team. That's pretty wacky.
