I love it when some inflexible dope goes insane because they continuously doubled down on a bad assumption.
That was the main basis of his argument during his time as host of Sports Daily. His guest Bob Lutz agreed with him.

Not this again. Seriously, Bob couldn't stand him.

          • If one is an evaluator of losers it would be quite difficult to get a handle on these Shox. If a team is ranked by its losses & how it responds to losing, then it is preposterous that the team is even ranked.

              • Dick Gottlieb: "We've never given credit to someone for what they did last year".

That's absolute and total BS. I've heard it from members of the Selection Committee and especially from "experts" when they're trying to justify why a non-power conference team didn't get an invite or got a bad seed. A team with a history in the tourney is used as a reason to eliminate or underseed a non-power conference team, but when a non-power-conference team has a history in the tourney, then that history is something that's never been considered.

Gottlieb might also want to do a little fact checking before he says that WSU reached the F4 for the first time in its history. Sorry again, Dick. He's just spouting stuff that is factually inaccurate, but it's what he needs people to believe to give his opinion any credibility. He's about the equivalent of a message board troll. Avoid twitter fights with him. Do not feed the troll.

                  I liked this part
"Can the 40-0 T-shirts people have been using to wax their cars be forwarded to the good people of Wichita? Just in case?"

Calipari continues to pass the buck, but he built this Kentucky team and he's the man pulling the strings. If anybody's to blame for the Wildcats' struggles, it's him.

If I were CDW I'd want my money back, because the people in front of their ad are definitely not "people who get it".

                    Talk about irony.

                        • Wow, I just lost several IQ points watching that Allie and Doug video. Allie said we won the previous 3 games by a combined 21 points, actually it was an AVERAGE of 21 points. Big difference. She clearly isn't much of an analyst, relies on her recognition of the name on the front of the uniform to make a judgment.

As for Doug, did anyone else pick up on his elitist comments about there being 'clearly different levels of college basketball'? What I think he is saying is there is not one frat party in cbb, but two. The cool kids are at the major conference party, and the geeks and misfits are at the other party. He doesn't like the misfits coming over to the cool kids party, it upsets his sensibility. It seems to irritate him at the core of his being.

You'll notice Bob Knight doesn't seem to mind at all that we are crashing the party. He thinks we're a pretty good team. Probably because the guy is focused on the game and the way it is played and he has a first principle of merit, where as a lot of other folks have different priorities.

                            • Yes, Speed, and Wooden's UCLA teams who won 88 in a row as part of their string of championships would have been hard for Gottlieb to hard to judge too, I guess. Question of the day: is it better to lose to Green Bay or beat them? Or, in the Shockers' context, would it have been better to lose to St. Louis -- would Goofball Doug have respected and regarded them more highly in that case? (Question of the day, part two: don't we already know the answer to part one?)

All that matters about clowns like Gottlieb and ******* is that they aren't on the selection committee. Actually, they aren't even in the mainstream -- they're just hoping the unpredictable nature of a single elimination tournament catches up with WSU this year, as it does with some quality team or teams every year, so they can claim to be the smartest guys in the room. In reality, of course, they're just hoping to be the stopped clocks who got the time right (as of course they do twice a day) -- but if WSU loses prematurely, they'll be front and center gloating.
