Wichita State was very, very good and coming off a Final Four appearance, and said the key to game was the “the little stinker VanVleet.” Barry

The Shockers do not beat themselves. You have to beat them. They average only 10 turnovers a game and in five of their last 10 games, they committed fewer than that. Wichita State is disciplined both offensively and defensively. The Shockers do a great job closing out games because the backcourt of Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker play with poise and confidence.
Area of improvement: 3-point shooting
The Shockers are one of the most efficient offensive teams in college basketball, however only two players shoot better than 35 percent from 3-point range. As a team, Wichita State makes just 32.5 percent from long range. Tekele Cotton and Evan Wessel need to be more consistent from the perimeter. Only 21.9 percent of the Shockers’ points come from behind the arc, 267th in the country.
If a team runs Baker off the 3-point line, denies VanVleet the ball back and shrinks off the rest of the Shockers, will they struggle scoring? Wichita State plays outstanding defense, pressures the ball and is alert off the ball. However it does not have a dominant shot-blocker. With the new charge/block rule, having a void in this area could be the difference between a Sweet 16 appearance and another Final Four.

HCGM just knocked it out of the park on the Jim Rome Show. I can tell Rome loves our coach, and he let's his listeners know it.βLet your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.β
