The Shockers are one of the most efficient offensive teams in college basketball, however only two players shoot better than 35 percent from 3-point range. As a team, Wichita State makes just 32.5 percent from long range. Tekele Cotton and Evan Wessel need to be more consistent from the perimeter. Only 21.9 percent of the Shockers’ points come from behind the arc, 267th in the country.
If a team runs Baker off the 3-point line, denies VanVleet the ball back and shrinks off the rest of the Shockers, will they struggle scoring? Wichita State plays outstanding defense, pressures the ball and is alert off the ball. However it does not have a dominant shot-blocker. With the new charge/block rule, having a void in this area could be the difference between a Sweet 16 appearance and another Final Four.Comment
