Results are unacceptable period. No excuses matter. We need to stop making them for him. Back to your "business" example. It doesn't matter how much ground work, culture or whatever you do. If you don't turn a profit.. You failed.

This kinda shows what I see about us rapidly getting worse through the year too.

The goal of Haslametrics is to provide unique statistical insight and to offer predictive analysis based on teams' prior performances in a given season.

You can see the graph on the page showing our rapid downward trend in ranking. Also we are at 353 out 362 in "Momentum" which measures the last 4-8 performances compared to the rest of the season. So out last month or so has been one of the worst in D1

I have rough numbers for Creighton and UNO. Its very interesting because each Bluejay gets $150,000 plus the use of a car, while the entire Maverick team splits $100,000 with no car. Creighton fits in the top third of the BE in NIL, while UNO is top half of the Summit. Both teams NIL distribution seems to correlate closely to how they finish in their respective conferences.

It probably would help to know NIL at WSU and know how it fits in with the rest of the American as A benchmark to how the coaching staff is doing.
WSU put a player in the NBA last year, and he got the use of a car but only for the season and had to pay his own insurance which he struggled to do.

WSU ain’t got jack for NIL and that’s because the fan base doesn’t step up.

I wasn't the one that proposed the scenario. How about YOU back up your claim. Find me other schools that historically have made the tourney, then fired their President, AD and Coach in an 18 month period then missed the tourney. Also this conversation is really only relevant to the transfer portal era since building a team now is completely different

I'm challenging that the President change is completely irrelevant and the AD is slightly irrelevant. Most likely this scenario rarely if ever happens outside of our situation so there is no way to say whether those teams could in turn make the tourney or not.

You are saying its impossible to do. So find me say 3 of them in the transfer portal era that historically made the tourney more often than not, fired all 3 of those and then missed the tourney year one. I'll donate 100 to St Jude's if you do.

Off the top of my head, one that has 2 out of the 3 is K-State. New President in Feb 2022, Tang hired in March 2022, but the AD had been there for a few years. They made the tourney and even the elite eight.

I don't think the situation is that close as I stated in this previous post:

Do you really know enough about our NIL situation to make that statement?

Outside of the 3-4 people running it, don't believe anyone knows enough to speak intelligently about it.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

I really don’t need to look to know that it hasn’t been done, mostly because any institution going through that kind of change is doing it because it’s a grade A dumpster fire. You can’t turn one of those programs around in three months without unlimited resources. It just is what it is.

You can see the fruits, or lack there of. I’ve held and will continue to hold the opinion (until shown otherwise) that WSU NIL will never be the reason a recruit or transfer comes to WSU and that the best we can hope for is the NIL will be enough to keep players when more affluent programs come knocking.

It hasn't been done because its rare yes .. don't mean that its a cause and effect thing. You are unlikely to find another example of a school that normally makes the tourney that has replaced all 3. Heck, its rare for ANY school to replace all 3. This is like one of those odd ball stats. "Man you just can't make the tourney year one if you replace your president on a thursday, fired your AD on a Wednesday, then hire a new AD 3 Tuesdays after and have the popcorn machine run out of popcorn at 7:32 pm on your first gameday! No school has ever made the tourney after that happened". While technically true, its also true it just doesn't happen at all. So its really hard to say those are the reasons its "impossible" to make the tourney.

I gave an example of one that replaced 2 of the 3 and still made the tourney. Its also a school that just this offseason that said they had lower NIL resources than us. You have provided no other examples of schools that have had to do it, let alone one from a school that has a history of making the tourney (because its irrelevant if they miss the tourney after doing it if they never made it before anyways).

Also to be clear, i was never expecting to make the tourney not matter what coach we had... that was a criteria you tossed in. But I sure expected us to be getting better as we went along year one.

Kinda figured it was gonna take a couple million in NIL funds to get mens basketball players to come. Can Wichita match Omaha on that front? Cause it's kinda obvious the future of the program will depend on that. Is there 100 donors in the metro that will pony up 20k each?

I'm also curious how they are splitting things out. From the sounds of what ADKS has said, he's planning on equal splits for all athletes .. not just men's basketball. I'll have to see where that quote was from. I think they said we had like a 500k pot in armchair then he listed off an amount for each student athlete.

I do think we have the donors to make it happen for men's basketball, but there will need to be results on the floor or they aren't going to stay. There are plenty of Wichita businesses that can write it off as a marketing expense. Armchair being a black box with no communication isn't helping anything either.

EDIT: Found it in a podcast .. apparently its 500k bucket, with 25k marketing contracts .. didn't specify exactly who. So its definitely not all athletes but probably need to tier it to 100k+ for one or two players then tailor it down to fill out the team with the VAST majority going to basketball and probably baseball (those baseball NIL will be lower than the top tier basketball ones)

Ahh yes...the 'ole chicken before the egg thought process indeed. But...it's a dog eat dog world out there. Got to be aggressive to go get it. We can no longer wait for it to magically happen. It's better for the Wichita community to have a sold-out Koch Arena and being relevant nationally in Shocker basketball. There's so much pride and history there! Why let it go by the wayside?

I too believe the donors are there...they may just have to be further educated on how to get the Shockers there in the new NIL world. It's simply not gonna happen otherwise. If any place can do it...I know Wichita can!

Now go buy a team!!! :)
