The information that Sampson had interviewed was bad info. It was later clarified Sampson has not interviewed, but his agent has reached out for a hope to be interviewed.

I think timing is going to be paramount here. The longer it takes, the greater the disadvantage the new coach will be facing. As guys enter the portal and start having conversations with coaches, WSU isn’t even being considered until we have someone at HC.

If Jans is option 1, why interview anyone else before you have his answer? If you have a couple of A options or something then maybe you interview one before another.

If Jans says no, then I wouldn't be surprised if Kellen gets an interview. Though at this point I hope PK is reached out to. I get more and more excited about him as a possibility if it isn't Jans.

You get through as many interviews as possible early on. If/when Jans says no then you're that much further along in the process to move onto other candidates. Time is of the essence and it just expedites the entire process.

I think the whole Kellan is a steeping stone thing depends on several factors:

- How long does Kelvin keep coaching? - He has it rolling right now, unless he just REALLY wants to retire, he could go another 10 years like Coach K or Boeheim. Why leave now?
- Does Kellen want to form his own path? - Does he want to take over what his father has built or prove he can do it on his own at a different school?
- How successful is he right away? - Does he get WSU back to the tourney right away and make a Sweet Sixteen in the first 3 years?
- How does he get along with the boosters. the university, and the city? - Does he see it like Turg and "at this level" or does he see it like 3Gs and a place you can challenge for titles?



All that being said, if you feel he is the best candidate for the job, I don't you think you should let the possibility of him leaving quickly prevent you from making the hire/
