If the land grant "state" schools from Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Oregon, Washington, and Texas somehow circle the wagons and survive the final conference consolidations, the university presidents at each of those schools deserve an Oscar, Nobel, and a couple of shares of Berkshire Hathaway for their troubles. Many of them are not worthy, either with respect to athletic strength or academic profile.
I'll never stop wondering what kind of cards WSU might have been dealt out all of this were it not for Lew Perkins, and potentially Boatright. A terrible football program is worth immensely more than no football program, especially amongst our peer group and profile. There's no way to convince me otherwise.

They (AAC) should add Cal and Stanford to get to 16.
What other schools would raise the profile of the AAC that much? What MWC schools would raise the profile of the PAC enough to make it better than the AAC?
The issue is the fact that Stanford/Cal can’t travel to many of the AAC schools.
