Also, with a 20 game conference schedule every team would be accepting the loss of 1 extra home game a year I would think. Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

"Cinderella is getting written out of the March Madness story" - Washington Post

"College basketball undergoes constant evolution, a form of Darwinism that can turn well-established fixtures into long-forgotten relics. The four-year superstar went the way of the dodo. The notion of geographical alignment of conferences vanished. Playing the Final Four in an actual basketball gym grew quaint. If current trends continue apace, a quintessential slice of college hoops may join the endangered list: the mid-major at-large NCAA tournament berth.
'I 100 percent think mid-major teams getting at-large berths is not only diminishing, but — what is it when we have a creature that’s about to die?” Southern Illinois Coach Barry Hinson said. “It’s on life support. It’s getting ready to be an extinct species.'..."

"Hinson, whose Salukis scrimmaged Middle Tennessee State before the season, said MTSU was the best team they’ve played this season other than Louisville. “It would be a travesty” if the Blue Raiders, who are 24-4 overall, 14-1 in Conference USA, don’t make the field, Hinson said. But he also said he expected they would be left out if they do not win the C-USA tournament."
The best team they have played? What did they lose the scrimmage by 75. Seem to me he should be lobbying for conference teams rather than MTSU. However from what I have heard from Southern Illinois fans this is just Barry being Barry.

We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

“The rich get richer and the poor get poorer,” Hinson said. “Until you find a different evaluation process or expand the tournament, you’re gonna have this every stinking year.”
Expanding the tournament has been tried. It only gave more opportunities for shitty P5 conference teams.

More inline with this thread:
At a recent game, Elgin ran into Hinson, the Southern Illinois coach. “What do we need to do as a conference?” Elgin asked him. “The issue with our league right now isn’t our league,” Hinson said. “The issue with our league is realignment and who we’ve lost.”
2. Maybe the good teams that go to the NCAA Tournament every season are sick and tired of having to support the dead fish teams in this conference that contribute nothing financially or otherwise to the MVC.
3. Maybe if the MVC had a Commissioner that had the balls to tell all the butt dragging University Presidents and AD's in in this dog conference; spend some f*****g money on your basketball programs or go join the Mid-Eastern Conference, and tell your turd coaches to schedule their RPI's up, or FIRE THEIR ASS; instead of asking one of those turd coaches, "What do we need to do as a conference?".
MAYBE THEN THE BREAD WINNERS IN THIS CONFERENCE WOULDN'T WANT TO LEAVE!"Hank Iba decided he wouldn't play my team anymore. He told me that if he tried to get his team ready to play me, it would upset his team the rest of the season." Gene Johnson, WU Basketball coach, 1928-1933.
