  • I hope you are right and Kyles is the better player. I will be interested to see him against the valley of death.

    • Good to see us getting a local kid (Wessell)to stay in Wichita. Keeping local high school athletes in the city is the way to build a successful program. We need more of it--especially since the city league has quite a few prospects.

      • Cyphers to transfer.

Utah’s independent news source since 1871, The Salt Lake Tribune covers news, entertainment, sports and faith for Salt Lake City and the state of Utah.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Not sure we want him; however it's an interesting comment from Mr. Cyphers. Sounds like a 'preferred' walk-on candidate.

              • We should only take him if he is a walkon

                • Didn't we prefer him to Kyles originally? Wonder how they compare now.

                  • Cyphers didn't played the last 12 games and 15 of the last 18. Scored 2.9 ppg and shot .208 from the 3 in his second year. All this from a Utah team that was 7-9 in league and 14-17 overall.

                      • There are situations where players just do not work out, but go to other programs and things work out just fine. I hope this is the situation for Jordan.

Two years ago Marshall thought highly of Jordan; whether that is still his current opinion, don't know.

The other question that comes to mind, of course, is whether WSU has a spot other than as a non-scholarship player. Maybe time to dust off the old Jamar Howard autograph model grayshirt for next year's fall semester? Certainly his being an in-state guy would make that more feasible from a financial standpoint.

                          • Just read the blog about Jordan transferring. If I read that right, his dad was complaining to the coach about playing time for Jordan! High school coaches don't like that. I cannot see a D1 coach putting up with it, especially Marshall. Seems like some baggage that could impact Jordan's options.

It happens all of the time now with Div 1. I know that current and past WSU coaches have had to deal with it - it's just part of the job.

Think of Craig James and his son at the Texas Tech football program.
