I think lawmaker may not be far off. How many times has a local kid (not Wichita, but anywhere) gone away from home and transferred back within a year or two? I don't know what the particular area is like, but I suspect Utah could present a degree of culture shock.

The only question is, would there even be a spot available if we're already so loaded with guards and commitments from guards that we can afford to accept a transfer?

Hawkins is an example of this. He might not be from Wichita, but Wichita is a heckuva lot closer to Oklahoma that the other place. Brett Wise is another example. Came back from Idaho or wherever it was. Same might be said for Kyle Wilson, but that might be a stretch.

Cyphers

Yes, we can all wonder about understanding the mind of Cyphers -- and the spelling of newshock. Right, Royal?

I also stated some time ago that it would not surprise me to see Cyphers in Shocker colors some day (yet another agreement with lawmaker, heaven help me). Sometimes it just takes a while to see how green the grass really is in good old Doodah. I'm also pretty sure it's just going to keep getting greener as long as Coach Marshall is in the house.

Meanwhile, Hawkins should fit in quite nicely, with Murry and Kyles making the future look bright, so it's hardly as if the Shocks are short of wing-type players while Cyphers comes to the realization that skiing isn't all it's cracked up to be.

my opinion on cyphers is hes overatted ive seen him play against the likes of east and a few other schools and he didnt look that good IMO but thats just me who knows what he'll do at utah

He may have actually lost his chance to ever don the black and yellow (yes, yellow). The guys that were signed will fill holes that he can play and there won't be much playing time to go around.

I was high on Cyphers, but I've always been higher on Kyles. So I think it worked out well for us. I wish Jordan nothing but the best out west.

Sub, on your scale of players, why do you rank Kyles higher than Cyphers? What does Kyles bring to WSU that Cyphers would not?

Everything I have heard is Cyphers is way ahead of Kyles..especially athletically. Now I have not seen Kyles at all personally, but I have seen Cyphers. The kid has it all.
Plus huge bonus if we recruit a local kid.

I haven't seen either of them play, but from what I've heard/read over time I think Kyles will offer more. I think he may be a better all around player. I would have loved Cyphers, but Kyles was always one of the top 3 or so guards that I wanted.

It's always going to be difficult to compare local kids with Texas kids. There is so much more talent down there that comparable players here are going to look better, both statistically and on the court.

How many HS teams in Kansas have had multiple D1 talents? Murry and Kyles are both on teams with three or more D1 talents. And they are playing several teams of the same caliber.

So comparing Cyphers with Kyles is pointless.

Ummm, WSU did recruit Cyphers. Are you saying they didn't?
