What makes this most bitter to me is this isn't the Utah of old...

    11-19 last season

This really doesn't make much sense to me. It's not like Utah is Austin Texas or LA either. I really dislike not being able to keep talent at home (if they are OK with staying home which it looks like Cyphers was) and hopefully this was all Jordan's decision and Marshall didn't cool on him. If he did, he better have had a darn good reason to (and im not buying the idea he cooled due to Murray, Cyphers looks like a big-time player, Murray to me at this point is still a question mark but looks good on paper)

Definently one of those things that just makes you go hmmm...

On the other hand, Cyphers made it clear that one of his priorities in choosing a school was the ability to play right away. In that sense, the 11-19 record makes it look like their might be openings for him to do so.

Jordan Cyphers didn't choose WSU and that is his choice. He's gone and, to me, no longer of interest. I care about people who want to support WSU or benefit from the education and entertainment (because the athletic, theater, music, etc. events WSU presents are entertainment to the public) which WSU offers and, on this forum, I don't care about those people who fail to support WSU.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

The big difference between Uzoh and Mekel is that Uzoh didn't have someone telling him not to shoot, or otherwise short leashing him.

DoubleJay- after Gal gets a chance under Marshall, you will think he is the real deal. Just remember to be happy that he is in the Valley.

Please don't take my posts as a rip on Mekel; they weren't intended to be such. I just think that Uzoh is better, but that doesn't mean that I'm saying that Mekel sucks or anything.

At this point, it is still hard to tell who got the better deal. I hope it was us, but it is way too early to tell. After one year, it would appear from the outside that we missed by not getting Uzoh.
You see Gal play in the Valley Tournament?
No offense to Mekel, but did you see Uzoh play last year? He is the real deal. I know CU also recruited him pretty hard and at one point in time he looked like he was heading our way. Uzoh's decsion to choose a non Valley school was a painful pill for the MVC.
well if CU recruited him then obviously he is better of the two. Sorry thats just the way you came off with that statement. Lets compare numbers.

Uzoh: 9.9 pts and 1.7 assist per game playing 26 minutes, 41.2fg%
Mekel: 4.0 pts and 1.5 assist per game playing 13 minutes, 44fg%

Mekel had Turg scowling at him everytime he got on the floor where as Uzoh didn't have to look over his shoulder everytime he made a mistake. Good thing because Uzoh had 69 turnovers to 46 assist.

I would say given minutes played and thier stats they seem very comparable.

I didn't take offense either, as it would be hard for a non-WSU fan to see Gal's talent if they only watched a couple of WSU games all year.

He's definitely the real deal, though.

Not sure why, but in the first half of the WSU vs. MSU game in the Valley Tournament, Turg told Gal he could do what he wanted. I've never seen a true freshman in the Valley take over a game the way he did. In the second half, it was back to the standard gameplan. Who knows why. Turg had his methods, and they worked most of the time... but they definitely left some of us scratching our heads.

It's been a long time since I've seen a kid take over a game like that. I am still puzzled as to why it stopped. If things were that bad I wonder why he was ever given a chance in the first place.

He was as dominate as any player in the league, for that half at least.

Have to agree with this one.
I was watching closely and he was just feeling it. It was impressive and I mentioned to my cohort in crime that Gal should, at the minimum, touch the ball every time down the court. He was, as some like to say, "in the zone." 8)
