      • I just want to note that with a block percentage of 15.9% Orukpe is 5th in the nation. Jeff Withey led the nation last year at 15.27%; Anthony Davis was at 13.75%. That is all.

        • EO may have a feast today. Matched up against a freshman.

            • He did well when we got him the ball. Didn't hit from the FT line though.

              • IMHO, he has way too much body motion to improve his FT shooting. He is strong enough he doesn't need to involve his entire body, just his arm and hand. Hold the ball above his eyes and let it go.

I think Evansville played too much on the perimeter to let EO do his thing. They like to shoot a lot of jump shots, and didn't really work in the paint enough for Orukpe to get a lot of blocks. Their freshmen is pretty good as well.

                  • I dislike double-posting, but I'd like to note that lost in the Evansville loss was a solid performance by Orukpe. In his last 5 games he is shooting over 70%, and averaging 7 PPG, 7 RPG, and 3.6 BPG. Against Evansville, he had the best assist to turnover ration on the team (2:1), and only one foul.

That's not too shabby. Especially since he was thought to have little to no offensive game.

How is EO going to matchup with Echinique? I really don't think EO will have much offensive production.

And so, here it is -- I just looked at the team stats and saw that in 16 games / 304 minutes this year, EO has 38 official blocks. That's one every EIGHT minutes of playing time (and who knows how many others not awarded, or how many shots influenced). That is some serious defensive production.
