  • Here's the deal. We add to this front line tall guards, like Toure' and Kyles to feed EO for the release of many 3's? Or maybe not quite at this juncture. Just one time of that could result in pine time for EO.

    • EO had a couple of very quick and athletic moves to the basket but did not finish. Last year he was a stand in place guy that did not finish. I believe (and hope) that by the end of the year he will continue to improve and WILL finish.

Actually, he did finish one of his two attempts

        • As true with most Centers, the closer to the basket they can get posted up to receive the rock, the more successful they will be. Right now, if EO can get us 4-8 points, set legal picks, rebound and rebound some more, kick the ball to the open man, make his fair share of throws, 15 minutes of solid D which includes blocking and disturbing opponents shots, then I would say he will be quite an asset as the Season progresses. It appears that EO will be in our rotation now and I really think he can continue to improve.

Who said anything about EO on the perimeter?

EO's picks are not within the rules.

His picks are sloppy, moving and ineffective.

EO could stand to watch some Ellis tape on picks.

              • More often than not, an ineffective pick isn't on the guy setting it as much as it is on the guy using it.

Ellis got called for his share of illegal screens as well. I haven't seen Ehimen get called for too many as of yet. So until they're called, he's not doing anything wrong. If he has to move, again, that's on the man using it.

                • We have not been very good at all at cutting off screens.

From what I've seen, not very many college players are. If we cut off screens in high school like I see most college players doing it now, we'd be running yo-yos until we puked.

And as pinstripers said, we have not been very good at all at cutting screens.....for a long time! I had a lot of issues with Bobby Knight, but the man knew how to coach young men to set picks/screens and how others were to utilize them, on and off the ball. I grit my teeth every time a defender goes between a Shocker setting a screen and the Shocker player handling the ball.

                        • In 14 minutes:

                          3/4 field goals - 7 points
                          6 rebounds
                          2 TO's
                          2 fouls

Not credited for any blocks. I obviously don't know what gets credited for a block. I saw at least 2 shots he touched, but maybe didn't block. Add in about 4 more "alters". I think this is at the upper end of what Shox fans were hoping for from EO this year. 3/4 from the field may be a bit beyond what anyone was hoping for.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

They gave his block to Anacreon.

                            • What I liked more than his stat line was his activity on the offensive end, something we haven't seen from him yet. We weny STRONG about 3 or 4 times and it got him 2 FGs, a trip to the FT line and a seriously blocked shot. Check back this time next year and you will see what an athletic 7 footer can do!!!

Just for clarification, not all athletic 7 footers are equal. I think EO can manage 5 points and 7 rebounds in 20 minutes of play next season and I'll take it!

                              • EO is definitley "getting it". He was posting strong last nite and working his tail off on both ends of the court. He went up for a monster jam last nite and got fouled. When he can finish moves like that - OMG - it will be scary. The guards are starting to look for him also...IMO, he had been their last option - but that's changing.

He will continue to improve this year and look out next year. He will be a dominating center and average a double - double in the MVC.

                                Anyone seen ShoxMVC ?
