  • I thought watching his game live was more dramatic than seeing the highlights.

You can see an opposing player making a move that commits to a shot attempt. You know the BLOCK is coming. Then you see a hand where no hand has a right to be.

I don't know if his blocks against TS were an indication of what's to come, but he wasn't just blocking the shots - he was blocking them to a teammate. His blocks were the equivalent of an opponent's TO instead of giving an opponent a new shot clock to work with.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Yup, the big block five rows back into the stands gets the fans on their feet, but the 3 pt after the restart, sets them right back down.

In addition, he also demonstrated the discipline to not go for a block when it would probably be goaltending. He was picking his spots and that was nice to see.

        • Does anyone know if there are some highlights on the web, from the game last night? I cannot find them on goshockers.com. I was hoping that they had something showing the EO block.

Agreed. When he went up for that first one, I thought it was going to go into Dawson Grimsley's lap. Instead he put it right where we could pick it up, AND if I remember correctly he beat the rest of the team up the floor. If this is his starting point, I can't wait to see what he'll be like in March.

and when the block leads to a transition game, and the guy who got the original block gets down the court to finish the play with an and-one thunder dunk, it keeps the crowd pretty excited.

              • One hundred and thirty eight pages (and counting) and not a link to a youtube video showing Orukpe's first official block. You guys are slacking. ;-)

I second that comment! What a disappointment to not have a video available of the sequence of events in the last two minutes of the first half.

My heart is heavy because of the slipshod reporting that has befallen this august group.

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

                    • The one that impressed me was the Newman game. Attempted a block on the north end, was in the rafters at about the freethrow line. Shot went barely over his outstretched hand and clanked off the rim. He was back skying on the rebound and took it right off the hoop. How he was in both places and that high up was inconceivable.

                      • I really enjoy watching him play. So much energy. He really attacks the rebounds. I can't wait for the game to start coming to him a little more and getting him some more PT. He's going to be a lot of fun to watch down the road!

                          So here's the quetion:

Who averages more rebounds and blocks per game next year; Carl Hall or EO?

My guess would be Hall as I believe he will play more minutes, but I would expect to have some Shockers higher on the conference list for those categories in 11-12.

I would guess Hall as well. But, if Ehimen progresses to the point where he's earning more PT, then I'd go with him, at least for blocks. Either way, it'll be fun!

                            • I'd say Hall has more boards but EO may lead the team (and also the Valley the following year as a SR) in blocks.

                              • I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to watch EO last year in JuCo. He looked very lost and very raw. He didn't look like he belonged last year.

What a huge improvement he has made this year. If he makes that much improvement by next year.....look out.

His skills may still be raw but seeems to understand the offense and his role in it. When he was posting up against Bradley I was hoping he would get the ball cleanly and ram one......it will happen.
