These scrimmages can be a pretty interesting study in contrast. Often, the 4-year schools are smaller and less athletic, but the players have usually played together much more than the JUCOs. They also tend to be fundamentally sound and excellent shooters. Occasionally, Evangel or CofO will have someone who can really fill it up and take over a game.
TRCC has played well there the last two years because they've had more savvy players than in other years. Far fewer breakdowns on defense and turnovers on offense. I've been there in the past and been amazed at how many backdoor cuts the 4-year guys get away with. With a slew of returning players, TRCC should fare well this time around.
As far as EO, he should get a lot of boards and blocks..... BUT.... the refs at this event are usually pretty lame. There's always one guy in every trio who thinks that the fans are there to watch him blow his whistle and make hand gestures. Also, many of the officials tend to see the game through "high school glasses", meaning they almost instictively call a foul on a blocked shot. This could spell trouble for EO. Physically, he should have no problem with these guys, but they can be pretty crafty about stripping the ball if he doesn't protect it and he better stay pat on head fakes or he'll be sitting a lot......

Originally posted by tropicalshoxMarcus, would you give us some info on Marquise Carter?
Marquise is about 6'3"-6'4". He has a really good handle in traffic and his game is predicated on slashing and drawing the foul. He's a good free throw shooter and gets a lot of his points in this manner. He's not particularly explosive, but instead rather slithery. He's good at finding the seams in a defense.
He's not the prototype playmaker, but he does have good court vision and a deft passing touch. He really lays the ball in the right spot, whether it be for a spot up shooter or in transition. His role at TRCC has been more of a scorer, but I think he could do well if asker to defer to others.
He's a decent athlete, but he can be taken advantage of a bit by the super-quick or super-physical guards.

I watch the team shoot-a-round this afternoon and they all looked energized played hard. EO was there but did not participate in any of the scrimmages, I was told he had turned an ankle and was told he was just visiting Wichita. From what I saw, he wasn't favoring either ankel. He and JT were verbal bantering back and forth over JT telling everyone he had dunked on EO.
This was all done good naturedly. TM looked real good in one game the 3 blocks and several three pointers. CH and GH looked really good shooting the ball along with DK who made several long ones. GS looks a lot more comfortable shooting his "Hook" with either hand.Their were some good defensive by a variety of players.
