  • Here is what I find to be ridiculous. I haven't been paying close attention, but I wouldn't be surprised if media and fan types were saying that a loss might do Gonzaga some good. Now that it has happened, watch those same people say that Gonzaga shouldn't be a 1 seed now.

In 2014, people said the same about WSU. I kept asking which game could WSU lose and still stay on the 1-seed line.

Geez, this smacks of Judge Smails saying, "Some people just don't belong."

      • How far did KU fall after a home loss to unranked Iowa State? How far does Gonzaga fall after a home loss to unranked BYU? Just an innocent question :)

        • What will Iowa State be ranked on Monday?

          • Here's another question. Is 41 points the largest margin of victory over any top 50 opponent? How many times has a top 50 team ever been beaten by 41?

            • Value of a close loss to a P5 top 50 = TEN 41 point victories over top 50 mid major teams

Value doubles if the losing team is also P5.

Value halves if winning team is also mid major.

Did he really say that? Then wtf is the freaking point. How could there only be upside and no downside? That makes ZERO sense.

It appears this year a precedent is trying to be set to where it's ONLY about quality wins. That's it. Nothing else matters. And coincidently, now all of a sudden 14-loss teams with 4-11 conference records are magically appearing on the bubble. Is that where this thing is headed? The true P5 tournament is actually going to start happening? They say it's a "weak" bubble, but that's because they are trying to keep out the Illinois State, WSU, Middle Tennessee States of the world. 10 years ago, those teams would be locks. Now, they are pitting them up against 14-13 Clemson teams LOL. Is this what the committee wants? Is this what the media wants? Middling garbage taking over this tournament, where the little guy continues to get squeezed out.

This is not a good look where 20 chances against Top 50 teams, where half are at home, and you can only win 2 of them is >>>>>>> then teams not allowed to have off-nights going 27-4 in the regular season and having to sweat it out. It appears there is no compromise now. It's getting disturbing.

Fever please recall a couple of years ago I started a thread to discuss what the P5 conferences have planned for the NCAA Basketball Tournament. What you are voicing now is reflective of the message I was trying to deliver with that thread.

                          http://shockernet.net/forum/showthread.php?19219-Do-the-P5-Conferences-Plan-to-Redistribute-College-Basketball-Revenue

As I posted in that thread, "...the 275 universities not members of the P5 should implement a proactive plan to protect their status and revenue in the world of college basketball...I would suggest the Presidents, Athletic Directors and Coaches of these schools meet with appropriate NCAA personnel to discuss and implement" a plan that protects their shared interests.

                            • I just hope we get to see a presser with a P5 coach complaining about us being underseeded. A non-P5 team in the first round is just underwhelming/depressing.
