It's that thing you pound Casey with when he shows up here. Keep it up by the way.

        Nah... It'll only differentiate between a bubble b12 vs. a bubble b10. That's all.

          • Lunardi just released his bracket. He has Illinois State now getting the auto-bid and an 11th seed in the Midwest. He has the shockers in as a 12 seed, in the first four against Michigan, also in the Midwest, where KU is the #1 seed.

At this point in time, I wouldn't complain about that.

Interesting. Guess a lot of data points in his matrix moved the Redbirds up and that loss didn't hurt us too bad.

He defaults the auto bid winner to whoever is currently in first place in the conference.

The fact he still has us as an at large is surprising. I'm no Lunardi but I no longer see any path the tournament without winning St. Louis.

29-5 (Next loss being Sunday in St. Louis to ISUr) would make WSU a stone cold lock to go dancing. RPI would be in the 30s, KenPom almost assuredly in the 20s or even teens, no bad losses, winners of 14 of last 15.

Not the likeliest scenario, I'll give you that, but you said "no path", and I do not believe that to be true.

I hope you're right (and with this kind of stuff you usually are, so that's reassuring). But without Schaus lobbying for us last year, we wouldn't have made the tournament--and we had an arguably better resume last year.

If indeed he lobbied for us and it made the difference of us getting in the tournament, his position (and our being added to the tournament regardless) was validated by our play. Our play last year after being on the bubble could help such a situation this season.

                        • Here's an interesting comparison.

                          2015-2016 St. Mary's (27-5, NIT)
                          RPI - 38
                          KP - 29

2016-2017 WSU (29-5) (Estimated assuming win next 14 then lose to ISUr in Finals)
                          RPI - low 30s
                          KP - 20s

Yes, the resumes above are very similar (slight edge to WSU), but the selection committee chair was quoted last March as saying that St. Mary's "didn't test themselves" in the non-con. Looking back, the Gaels played just 1 non-con game against a team that made the NCAA's, and none that made the NIT. Their 2nd best non-con opponent was UC Irvine, who made the CIT. This year, WSU has Louisville, Michigan State, Oklahoma St, and Oklahoma. Regardless of how those teams finish here on out, that's a better group of non-con opponents than what St. Mary's put together last year.

I think the 2015-2016 St. Mary's resume gets a team a bid more than 50% of the time. Tough luck for them last year. I think 29-5 WSU this year would look even better and would be a lock to get in.

I hope you're right. Of course that also means no more slip ups the rest of the way. Time to get our MTXE on.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

Well he's on the committee again this year so there's that.

                              • Should ISUr run the regular season table and then lose in St. Louis, I think they would be set up for an epic snub, aka MoSt 2006. RPI would be about the same, 21.
