I've never understood why players/coaches/fans try and get away with horseshit like that in today's age of camera's everywhere. On top of the fact you have around 4-5 HD camera's specifically aimed at the action being broadcast on television, you have numerous staffers for both teams most likely doing some type of filming for social media, and the numerous fans in attendance who have their phones out recording or taking pictures. It is nearly impossible to get away with any poor sportsmanship today, and if you happen to get away with it in the game, it can get brought up or shown after a game. It's really hard to get away with stuff these days.

IMHO, the best thing he can do is own up to his transgression and make a heartfelt apology to the ref and accept his punishment, whatever that may be, like a man. A 5-game suspension would probably be about right IMO.
