If Turgeon wouldn't have taken the A&M job that year then in all likelihood his stock would have tanked and he'd still be here winning 20 games in a good season, 25 games in a great season, and making the NCAA's every 5 years or so. The WSU fan base would be content as UNI's doppelganger because they would be blissfully unaware of the alternate reality.
He is an "above-average" or "high mediocre" or "good but not great" or whatever you want to call it, coach. Just because the stars have possibly aligned for him again this year, much like in 2006, doesn't change his career trendline, which has been on plateau for a good decade now.
