Not necessarily; I've gone over this before. The longer you avoid the best teams, the better your chance that you won't have to play them because someone will have upset them.

The Chickenhawks saw that with Manning's team; they played an opponent that had achieved an upset the previous game pretty much all the way through the tournament. Granted, eventually you're probably going to have to play someone pretty good, although even in the Final Four you never know whether the name will match the team's quality: who would have guessed a few years ago, for example, that Butler would be playing VCU for a spot in the championship game?

But the bottom line is that avoiding the best opponents for as long as you can -- not that you get to choose your pairings, but you know what I mean -- is winning tournament basketball.

This. I just get the feeling Fred would be so focused he'd drop 30 on them in the first half.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

And then have Utah go on to win it all so we can keep our streak of losses only to national champions going.

Well, or we just go ahead and win it all :)

IMO such a Regional Bracket would bode well for the Shockers!

The South Region would be good for the Shockers but look at KU's bracket in the Miswest - second round opponent either Georgetown or Temple. Anyone think the tournament committee will establish that possibility?

Not worth looking at. Palm is complete junk.

I believe the only thing that the committee takes into account of those three criteria would be RPI.

Yeah...although it's certainly the least accurate.

Not true. Committee members have stated they use many resources to help them. RPI is the most formally incorporated into the process, but it is not the only formula that committee members reference.
