2015 Bracketology

Just for comparison purposes. Per Palm UNI is a 3 seed, WSU a 7 seed.

RPI: UNI 16 WSU 17
W-L: UNI 25-2 WSU 24-3
1-50: UNI 1-1 WSU 1-2
51-100: UNI 6-0 WSU 5-1
101-200: UNI 6-1 WSU 6-0
SOS: UNI 131 WSU 107
Non-Con SOS: UNI 119 WSU 24

Overall SOS is similar, non-con SOS dramatically favors WSU. WSU hasn't lost a 100+ RPI game, UNI has. (wait for GW to get there, they are on their way). UNI has game in hand....otherwise I do not see a significant difference in profiles. If UNI is a 3 seed, WSU is a 4 seed based on comparisons. Both teams are lacking quality wins, I will give Palm that much. But neither team has a bad loss. Not many other teams can say that. I would lean more towards Lunardi that both are a 4 seed as of right now. But on The Bubble??? Not a chance.

This was one of my main issues. How is UNI a 4 seed but WSU a 7 seed to near bubble team when both resumes are pretty much identical, except for the fact that we actually have a much stronger SOS? I wish this was brought up to the hack on KGSO yesterday. It would have been funny to watch him explain himself with that one. Not to mention WSU is ranked 13th in the country and has pedigree and name power much more imbedded in the sport than UNI.

Has anyone ever heard of a near Top 10 team being a "bubble team" before? You really can't make this stuff up. Again, pay no attention to Jerry Hack.

Not near Top 10, but Hinson's SWOMO Bears got left out and would be about as bizarre as if WSU were left out completely with a loss to UNI and then a loss in the MVC Tournament.

True with regards to RPI for the Bears. But I'm talking about the polls. SWOMO had a good RPI but definitely wasn't getting any love in the polls. Here, WSU is very well respected in that sense.

Nah man, whole other level. SWOMO went 12-6 in the MVC that year and dropped their first game in STL. Never ranked that year- the only thing they really had going for them was that gaudy RPI of 22, buoyed mostly by the strength of their conference peers. They got screwed because the NCAA just wasn't gonna take a 5th MVC team (they probably had a better profile than Bradley but I think that choice worked out okay for the league).

WSU going 28-5 (16-2) and getting left out would be pretty earth shattering. Thank god there is 0% chance it happens.

I doubt it. But I'm not sure. I know that year we weren't ranked and we won the conference by 2 games.

The Bears were getting between 1 and 5 votes for the last 4 weeks or so before selection Sunday. This is the latest poll I could find.

I think any time you say #15 is no more than a bubble team, you are just trolling.

Because of who is left on our schedule, we could go 0-3 and still be in the top 25. We would have to literally go 0-4 with a bad loss on Friday in St Louis to be "on the bubble" and even then, it would be a stretch because HCGM is close to a household name now
