It looks to me like he used an "x" which is kind of a mathematical symbol, and he he also used a 2035 and 2036. :)

He also used a backslash /.

So let's see here. You've got (X + 2035-2036) or X-1/End rant. What does that mean? Yep, he's getting lazy.

    • Can you divide by "end rant", or is that like dividing by zero?

        #3 OU
        #4 ND
        #5 Providence
I'll take this region in a heartbeat. UNI a 5 seed in the West. If I'm reading this correctly we are considered the #1 six seed and they have us playing in Omaha.

Obviously, they need to do a few more of these "mock selections". UNLV???? Really!!!

They could have had UNLV winning the MWC tournament or going on a tear before Selection Sunday. These mock selection committees are given a set of scenarios they have to work around to simulate what it's like for the real Selection Committee; like Creighton winning the Big East tournament or a star UK player getting hurt before the tournament. The mock committee don't necessarily think that UNLV deserves to be in the field today.

Yup. But what was odd was they already had 3 other MWC teams. They're having such a bad season that the most likely outcome of a UNLV winning the auto-bid would be another MWC team falling off the board.

            • While I think technically we could end up as high as a 3 seed, most scenarios will have us land in the 5-6 range. We'll have a good RPI, a good ranking, and a good SOS but the selection committee will judge us harshly for the quality of our best win. We can raise our ceiling significantly with two UNI wins, but right now we have one RPI top 50 win. That puts a ceiling on an otherwise spotless resume.

IMHO, we'll be put in UK's bracket if at all possible for story reasons. And yes, I think story is a major motivator. Why else put together that entire bracket last season? Why else put UNC and KU together so often after the 2008 fiasco. Since UK is going to go to the Midwest barring an completely unforseen collapse, Wichita State will likely be playing in Louisville if they get a #4 or #5 seed. I'd much rather be a 6 seed (3 even better), UK is the worst possible matchup for this team and we can go farther from either the 3 or the 6 spot.

We would not be sent to Louisville, as the first chance to matchup with Kentucky would be in the regional semifinals (in Houston i think).

I don't understand this desire to get a 6 seed over a 4 seed simply for the purposes of avoiding Kentucky for what would amount to a single game. Seriously, if you offered me a revenge game against Kentucky in the sweet 16 at the beginning of the season I'd take it in a heartbeat. If you want to win it all you have to beat the best anyway.

Now, avoiding the 5-12 matchup I understand.

Edit: Midwest regional is in Cleveland, my bad.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Earn a banner (S16 or better). Then play UK.

....so you understand wanting to play a 40 RPI team (11 seed) instead of a 50 RPI team (12 seed) but you don't understand wanting to avoid what will likely be the first 36-0 team in history for as long as possible?

A huge cliche. Also, totally false.

Well, I guess I will explain, then. The 12 seed is the most likely upset in the tournament, even more frequent than a 6-11 upset. And WSU was the victim of just such an upset a few years ago, so I can completely understand wanting to avoid that seed.

Kentucky is very skilled and dangerous team, but even recently they have lacked focus and discipline and have shown holes against teams willing to move the ball and force their defense to shift. Last year almost all of the Shocker's close calls came earlier in the season. As the season wore on it seemed like the players got more focused. Kentucky has not shown that as much this year. I still think they will drop a game. And if somebody in the SEC can beat them, I think WSU can beat them.

We probably will end up in the Midwest regional unless there are too many teams on the s-curve with us that are trying to get the same seed. As long as we avoid getting a team like Kentucky or Virginia in the first weekend, then I can see WSU having a lot of swagger going into a game with any top opponent the second weekend.

Is it possible for WSU to win a national title without paying Kentucky? Absolutely. Is it possible for WSU to win the title without paying at least 2 or 3 teams that would have higher seeds and be favorites against the Shockers? Unlikely.

Sure, you may not have to go against all 67 other teams, but you will have to prove yourself capable against a number of quality opponents who are also playing well enough to get to the "x" round of the tournament.

                            Please.

                            • Currently, Shocks an 8 seed. Oklahoma State a 4 seed. Current ranking in top 15 apparently meaningless when it comes to Bracketology?

Sounds like we are officially ranked 15 but actually ranked 32nd in people's minds.

Remember, Okay State just notched that quality loss against TCU.
