Missed the game. Looks like that was a good thing. Having said that, I am somewhat relieved that we took a loss now rather than later in the season. I think we peaked too later/too early last year, the late season bug that passed around, probably played a factor then. It might have been a factor last night. We have a good team and a wake up call if needed, came at the right time, and the bug if present, has time to go away.
I also think the team's health could be a factor. One of the players last week said a bug was starting to go around in the team. Maybe it played a factor.

Was thinking the same thing Doc.....we looked like a bug was settling into the Shocker players bodies. If that's a reality....here's to hoping they get better before UNI game. GO SHOCKS!!!

With the size of ISU's frontline - I would have liked to see how we might play with 3 bigs in the lneup - Hall, Early, and either Orukpe or White.

If indeed the team has a bug hope it's not the one going around down here. This takes a long time to completely recover.

hey, we have a team full of winners...dont become fans that take winning for granted...so we lost a conference game, it happens to the best of them. Butler just lost to LaSalle, it happens, respect our oppenent at all times, maybe the high ranking and playing the third best team in the Valley was a setup for a trap game. Move on to the next game, and our chances of clinching a NCAA see will get better. GOSHOX #watchus

I think the Doc may be right. I thought the team looked lackluster tonight and looked tired. I also thought that the crowd started off lackluster too. The crowd did finally fire up pretty strong but the team didn't respond with the usual energy. They still looked pretty lackluster and tired. So I think the Doc may be right. Maybe the team caught the flu bug that has been spreading across Wichita lately.

Stuff happens -- time to move on and get a road win in Cedar Falls.

By the way, the best highlight of the night, by FAR?
Shocker Volleyball. Love these girls!

Disappointing game from our two senior guards. Combined 6-25 from the field, 6 assists and 5 turnovers. They did a terrible job of penetrating the zone and getting touches for Hall. Carl had ZERO points from the field on 2 attempts. How often does the Beast go scoreless from the field? When Carl only gets touches to attempt 2 shots, we are in serious trouble, because he is our only post scoring threat. Early is a stretch 4 that doesn't get a whole lot of back to the basket chances, while White, EO and CJ (where was he tonight) are slim-to-non-factors down low.

I have to break down the game on film before commenting but I'll say this (repeating something I said earlier):
We had some bad and negative energy out there tonight and also, I'll be a little surprised if it doesn't come out that some of the kids were sick. We looked really, really tired and gassed all night, especially Carl.
That being said, all the credit to the Trees. They played lights out and absolutely and 100% deserved to win the game. The took the fight to us and won, period. Sad yes...true? Absoflippinglutely.

We'd overload one side and set a ball screen so that the ball would then go to the overloaded side. There were holes there but the players didn't move the ball quick enough to find them.
I agree it's not time to panic but I really wanted to keep that one game lead over Creighton.

Guest repliedI am glad Saturday's game at UNI is on ESPN2. Creighton showed last week that you can minimize an ugly loss by rebounding with an impressive showing on national tv. Hopefully we can do just that.
