Devastating loss. Real gut buster. Ranked #15 then poop ourselves....AT HOME...

    Outcoached and outplayed.

Worst margin of defeat since losing 83-69 @ San Diego State on December 4, 2010.

Worst home margin of defeat since losing 70-56 against Stanford in the 2009 CBI.

2 core problems tonight. Our offense and our defense. The Trees half court offense was a weaving style and patient until we broke down and then they scored. Often they were able to score with easy, easy shots or one on one moves. They played with an "eye of the tiger" mentality and intensity. They even outrebounded us.

Our offense so often against their zone consisted of throwing the ball around the horn 25' away will little effective penetration or getting the rock to our bigs in key places. We missed shot after shot (27.1% from the field) and only had 1 flurry in the 2nd half that was much to short-lived. Armstead and Hall really struggled tonight. Lose balls? Coach just mentioned that the blue jerseys got most of them.

Time to get back in the trenches and get back to work. We will learn from this tough loss and have no time to lick our wounds. Indiana State imposed their will on us tonight and now we will get back to playing our style of hoops. No reason whatsover we can't return the favor when we go to their yard. We have been a resilient team and I look for us to snap out of the funk that plagued us tonight. We have some tough road games now to play ,1 at a time. A win versus N. Iowa would be a great start.

    Ugh.

But tomorrow we pick our selves up, we prepare for two tough road games, a new streak starts, our RPI begins to rise again, our wins start to add up, and all will be right and good once more in Shockerland.

Embarrassing performance tonight. I never thought I would see all 9 of our players look a step slow on the same night. Did we work out extra hard on Sunday or Monday in the weight room?? Did not having the extra day of rest really effect us that much?

I have never seen Carl so lifeless out there. He just didn't seem right at all. Very disappointing, but at least we are still sitting in good shape for our overall goals as long as we can right the ship this weekend.

No secrets on this one. We mailed it in. In terms of what we lost, I'd guess this is a better loss, but it is still by FAR the most disappointing.

There are no highlights from tonight. We got outplayed, out worked, and out coached. This is not on the fans or refs but on the players, would let a top ranking fool them into thinking they could have beat teams without trying.

Seeding wise, we probably lost the chance for a top 3 seed. Still should be ranked in the top 25, but games @UNI, @InSU, and especially @Creighton are more way important now.

This team has a very high ceiling, but they need to find consistency. Our losses have shown that we have some problems, and those problems need to be fixed for this team to reach their potential.

This team (and most WSU teams going back to Turgeon) has never used ball screens effectively. Heck, they really don't use screens well in any form. It's frustrating to watch.

But I seriously doubt that HCGM has not spent numerous hours in practice preparing for exactly what happened tonight
He stated on the pre-game that we would see exclusively man to man. Obviously we have practiced for how to handle a zone, but it does not sound like it was emphasized this week.

I am sure we'll be plenty prepared for it in upcoming games.

Very good game by Indiana State. We will be OK and I expect the Shockers adjust, play better and beat them at their place.

Our woeful offense that doesn't look to go inside and doesn't pass well finally caught up with us. Team acted like they didn't give two shits. Marshall made zero adjustments. Pretty embarrassing.

With that said, it's our 3rd loss of the year (yah, we're soooo exposed), and it isn't as bad as a loss to Drake or SIU. It sucks, but we weren't gonna win all of these down the stretch. Didn't think we would lay a turd at home though.

Figures we make the Top 15 and have so many opportunities to lunge forward, and then the team plays like a toilet bowl. Coaching was God awful too.

I don't get why after halftime, their players all run out of the tunnel while ours just casually walk out.

publicity wise this is a much worse loss than the TN loss, it may be viewed as a worse loss on selection Sunday too

Here's the story, in four words: WSU didn't show up. They got outrebounded, didn't defend, gave away baskets off bad turnovers, and in the last 4:12 of the first half were outscored 17-3 plus 14-1 in the last 4:17 of the game. That's 34-4 (!) in 8 1/2 critical minutes. Repeat: 34-4. You can't beat anyone doing that.
But isn't it his job, in practice, to develop and scheme plays that get the ball in to postion to get a high percentage shot? The offense was stagnant. No movement, and we settled for threes.

Before the game, HCGM said indy st would play VERY LITTLE zone. Guess what? They played a lot of zone.

Then HCGM puts Wiggins in early. No doubt to bust the zone. But he doesnt get any looks from 3, then gets benched for not diving for a ball. Okay fine. Well, thats, that. Then no answer for that zone.

Look, its one loss. But we got exposed a bit tonight. And HCGM has been around long enough to have his own bag of tricks, but perhaps not.

Shox will bounce back. They always do.

How can a loss to a #38 in the RPI be a bad loss?
