Maybe use the model of the airlines for the lower seats and sell the tickets ahead of time: "This game is overbooked. If anyone is willing to wait in the concourse until the next available game, we will be offering vouchers in the amount of [X, but increase the number as game time gets closer] that you can use for future games or for concessions or apparel. If you are interested, please approach the desk and talk with a ticket agent." Of course, this would only require that everyone arrive for the game 90 minutes early (2 hours early if we're playing an international team), but it sounds like the security process is being improved, so maybe it could be less.

Nah, they'll be covering WNBA, cricket or God forbid soccer!

Because so many people care about the TBT otherwise? I can definitely say I've not watched a second of any other game then an Aftershocks game.

It makes the crowd look better on tv, and sort of gives the tv viewer the sense that this is a better place to watch and celebrate the team than your living room.
Years ago, I went to a game in Norman and that’s exactly what happened. Maybe 5 minutes into the game, it was known that all seats were fair game with the understanding that if a person showed up with your seat’s ticket, you had to move.

I wouldn't mind seeing this policy posted around Koch. Let season ticket holders know the same, your seats are YOUR seats. If you have a ticket, you are guaranteed your seat no matter what time you arrive at the game. Patrons should maybe be encouraged to move down to better seating after the game starts. It would sure make for a better environment and make it look better on TV. If I had center court row 4 tickets that were being unused, I would prefer someone to sit in them, UNLESS I showed up. Somebody put a bug in the athletic departments ear.

Even at that, the ratings for TBT might be better than the WNBA.
