But given what the AFA AD said, why would WSU go to the MWC? He said that knowing the UH, CU and UCF are going to the Big 12.

It would only make sense if Gonzaga went too and with the right revenue split. No idea what those numbers are.

Memphis to the B12 seems like a stretch.

Boise to the B12 seems like a HUGE stretch.

I don’t get it. Seems like an irrational position.

I haven’t checked the numbers recently, but Idaho is smaller than Kansas, Boise metro about the same as Wichita metro, and Boise is really similar to WSU in enrollment and academic profile. Boise is WSU west with football. How in the world are they a candidate for a P5 slot?

They are a candidate because of their football program. Three Fiesta Bowls from 2007-14 and near the top in all-time winning percentage.

San Diego State also wants in the Big 12 so bad they can’t even see straight and the Big 12 has it’s eye on San Diego State. The only reason there’s no serious talks yet is obviously because of travel costs. It’s just a difficult time right now. There is no right answer for WSU except the Big East, which at this point isn’t realistic

The Big East is still the best option for a basketball school like WSU. We could bill ourselves as a travel partner with Creighton for the eastern schools. It's not a stretch. Kansas and Nebraska do share a border and would be an island in the conference footprint. We need someone like Bardo who is in a position of power advocating for this and making moves to actually do it. The AAC is a sinking ship for basketball. It was a huge upgrade for us when we joined the league because it had programs like UConn, Cincy, Houston, and Memphis. Three of those are gone and one might be gone by 2024.

The MWC would be a better basketball conference than the AAC if Memphis leaves the AAC. But it wouldn't be ANYWHERE close to what the AAC was as far as basketball prowess when we joined the AAC.

Why in the world would the Big 10 want anything on the west coast? That makes little to no sense.

It sounds like there was just too much uncertainty around what they might be getting into with the AAC especially win Boise State and SDSU decided to hold off and that's what caused CSU and AFA put on the brakes. Seems like for now they are taking a wait and see what happens approach and I actually think that may be a wise move on their part.

They have the luxury of being able to do that for now since the MWC is still intact. With the damage the AAC has sustained from the Big 12 they are under more pressure to ty and make that happen.

That doesn't mean the MWC can and will just stand pat. Could be their membership has put the MWC on notice that they need to work to improve their situation. IMHO, the key to that woudl be Gonzaga which is ironic since football is driving the realignment bus. But getting Gonzaga and then balancing that with the Shockers migtht let them pull in SMU and Tulsa as well and then the MWC would clearly be at the top of the Group of 5 pyramid. If that doesn't happen then these MWC programs could be back in play. So in the meantime how should the AAC play this? Not sure it changes that much for them. They still need to pursue the best programs they can find.

The B1G has little else in which to pick. They should go to 16 schools. There is nothing for the B1G in the Big 12, they could try to poach a couple ACC schools, short of that, they need to look west.

I'm of the opinion that CSU and AFA would not have really moved the needle that much for the AAC. So having those two decline may not be all that big of a deal.

At this point I think UAB, UTSA, Datyon/Army would be as good or better than CSU and AFA. Let ESPN target the best options to fill out a foursome.
