  • Putting feelings aside are there still some on here that think there's a chance in hell that GM survives?

Seems like we've got some Rudy Giulianis hanging onto hopes of election fraud lawsuits.

    • I could see him surviving as some have mentioned above. His rolling contract is terminated, his salary slashed, the other portion of his salary goes into a fund for anger management ( or something like that), he is required to take counseling, the players involved agree to this as long as he doesn't stray from the path.

He also cannot be around the team during games, similar to when Chris Jans was brought back. He is free to potentially pursue other jobs and if he leaves, WSU is free and clear from anything other than his minimal base salary this year. No car allowance, etc etc.

If he really was escorted out earlier this week, he was likely fired for cause and they gave him the choice to resign to save face. That would explain giving him a few days to think about things However, it also means he was given strike 1 about this previously per his contract. When did that happen? If he is fired, I think GM goes scorched earth and lawsuits with many zeroes in them will fly against WSU. Where is WSU going to get the money for that? The big donors are sure not going to chip in to fight it when many of them do not want him to go to begin with.

I am personally still holding out about 10% hope that he was also given the choice to seek counseling, make restitution, admit guilt etc and continue to coach at WSU. However, the percent of that hope seems to be dropping by the hour.

There are still some who think that Trump will be reelected for his second term when December 14 rolls around.

The only way IMO is whether SM or others reported it when it happened, ADDB handled it internally, and there is proof that it has not reoccurred.

                There isn't any loyalty anymore.
He was great for our university.
                A fantastic advocate for Wichita.
A mentor to hundreds of young men who he coached and trained into the best basketball players and men they could be.
A winner who singlehandedly bring us to the top of the college basketball scene and moved us into a bigger, better conference.

And now, because of some malcontents raising issues that are several years old, led on by a no account supposed "reporter," obviously intent on ruining Marshall, a man with none of the qualities, abilities or success of Coach Marshall, we are going to run him off.
No second chances with the cancel culture mob, no gratitude for what he did for the university or city.
Just discard him like yesterday's trash.

We will never again reach the heights we had with him, we will sink like a rock for a decade, and we will deserve to.

I am sad that we don't work to restore him and support him in his hour of need.
Again, there is no loyalty and I find it disgusting.

As a proud WSU graduate, I religiously followed every game on radio or television although having been gone from Wichita for 30 years.

I grew up listening to "Wichita State is on the go, watch the Shockers move on in victory, take your family to the game, root the Shockers on to fame, Wichita wins for you."
That jingle goes back to the 1960's, Stallworth, Bowman, Armstrong, Wylie, etc.
I haven't yet decided if I will still watch or care about WSU going forward.
That is hard for me to say.
But loyalty matters to me, and I don't see it here.

I would argue loyalty is the only reason we’re in this situation with these exact circumstances.

I wonder if “those things” only happened toward certain players, during one season, or was it standard protocol for a while. It seems like the players before and after that certain squad have high praise for him. Very interesting and hopefully some clarity comes from all this. Either way, if he is fired, there will be good reason. You can’t keep a coach no matter what, just because he’s the winningest coach. If he’s retained and suspended, we need to support that too. Anyone that thinks this decision is being made lightly is foolish.
I think his exact words were “when those things were happening.”

No hatred. I just don't trust the media anymore. The reporting of things like the Steele Dossier where after one media outlet reported that it existed, the rest of the media began to write stories on that report (not too different from ******* vs. Marshall, although *******'s story may turn out to be factual), and it continued into infinity to where truth no longer even mattered. Even on local stories, I often see stories where it is subtle but obvious (to me because I see enough of stories from different media sources) a reporter has a certain opinion by little words he says and how he doesn't portray both sides. It didn't used to be that way. I think some sports reporters like Bob Lutz think they are right and any others views are of no substance (therefore they ridicule and cut their opinion off, if they don't like it). The holier than thou view of the media is a modern phenomenon probably has developed because of societal changes, but I don't think it has served the media well. JMO.

There are to many "journalists" that lack integrity and are allowed to make accusations that damage high profile people without ever having to
give up their sources and many times their sources intention is to damage those individuals. Get the sources unsubstantiated lies to enough
of the media that will be complicit and spread their lies and soon the majority of people believe them. Happens all the time especially in
politics. Look what Harry Reid did to Romney as an example about his taxes.

For me this is the more interesting issue; if Marshall committed "these acts" and they were subsequently reported to the AD - was corrective action taken by the AD or were these acts hidden from WSU Administrators (President Bardo)?

Geeee, why don't people trust the media?

I have a feeling that there are more of these players than we know or that have made their feelings known. Marshall forced players to go to classes. I remember him disciplining a player for not attending class by not allowing them to participate in the Final 4 (I think they got their rings/banner was dropped) awards during a Black Gold Scrimmage at the beginning of the year. I also have a feeling that even though some of the players on that team may have spoken out to the law firm and possibly reporters supporting Shaq, they may have some support for their coach too. It is a complex situation that I'm sure causes mixed emotions on many. But during the grind of a season/4 year career, a brotherhood develops among players that coaches aren't and can't be a part of.

Gregg is not a public figure (or at least he is not currently judged to be). These stories usually have to be researched and pass legal vetting prior to publishing.

As far as what 'Harry Reid did to Romney' I agree with that observation and would add that it happens on both sides (Jerome Corsi and James O'Keefe).
