Updated Boyds World rpi needs assessment: MoST is the only Valley team with a relatively easy path to a possible at large bid.

According to Boyds World as of this morning, MoST needs to go 8-5 to finish with a rpi of 45 or better. Everyone else in the Valley is a long shot: Indy State needs to go 11-3 to finish in the top 45, WSU 12-3, Illinois St. 12-0, Evansville 15-1, Bradley 13-0, and according to Boyds World it is impossible for SIU or Cu to finish in the top 45.

WSU's opponent tonight, DBU only needs to go 8-8 to finish in the top 45.

In other Valley games tonight: MoST struggled to beat SIU 1-0 in Springfield. Bradley beat UE in Evansville 7-2 (that Ue series is one I wish we could re-do, WSU really should have done better that weekend). Creighton-Illinois St was postponed in Omaha due to bad weather. Indy St. struggled to beat #277 UNO 2-1 tonight in Terre Haute. Evansville's loss puts WSU in sole possession of 4th place.

I wonder how many 4th place valley teams ever got an at large bid?

Okay not ready to buy into the at large pumping but the only chance it's going to happen, is we finish no worse than second in the league, and both us and Missouri State reach the finals of the Valley tourney. Also, we need a couple more out of conference wins too. Even if all of that happens, it is still a long shot. We have to take 2 out of 3 this weekend to even continue the discussion.

                    Point conceded, pumpers?

In order for us to get an at large bid we will need to go 7-2 or 6-3 in our remaining conference games. If we do that we should not be in 4th place.

If WSU goes 6-3, they would be 12-9. Then all SIU and MSU need to do is go 3-3 to finish 12-8 and 12-7 along with Ind St going 4-5 to finish 12-9 and tied with WSU for 3rd. Since Ind St still has to play WSU, @SIU, and MSU, if they do worse than 4-5, SIU and /or MSU probably do better than above.

WSU better go 7-2 and hope for some help to finish 2nd.

This is the No.8 conference in the land. We'll get at least 6 bids.

1.) I don't think we need to continue the discussion. Anyone with cautious optimism or glimmer of hope bullsh*t is just setting themselves up for automatic disappointment. Save your rooting energy for what really counts for all the no-name, mediocre programs out there - the conference tournament in a month.

2.) We're not gonna win 2 out of 3 in Terre TruckStop.

3.) We're not gonna go 7-2 or 6-3 down the stretch anyways.

Since the ONLY way WSU is going to a regional is by way of the conference tournament, it would be in their best interest to avoid the 4-5 seeds and stay opposite of MSU's bracket, where they'll be playing in front of their hometown fans of about 500. The goal should be 3rd place at this point. That would be WSU's best shot at a miraculous run to a regional.

Monkeys will fly out of my butt if this team gets an at large bid this season.
