I can understand how crossing your i's might make you dot your t's.

        • I wonder how Jank feels about us moving into his conference? He ran away from the conference because of the beat downs Gregg was starting to put on him.

All jokes aside, I am stoked for this. Actually expecting our conference brethren to win games in the non-con, playing likely NCAA tourney teams in conference, and rooting for our conference opponents to do damage in the tourney. Hopefully, we prove our worth and the AAC lives up to the bill. THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING!

Welcome to our disjointed, weird and occasionally quite fun conference, Shockers. Hope you have bloggers.

"Wichita TV station KAKE and Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports are both reporting that the Wichita State Shockers will join the American Athletic Conference in all sports but football for the 2017-18 season.

If this is the case, despite the fervent objections of our friends @NoEscalators, the Shockers will give some balance to the league. 12 teams and works a lot better for divisions and travel than 11, and the AAC adds a team with a lot of acquired NCAA tournament units and a stable base of fans. And since Navy is already in the AAC West for football, keeping the same divisions for football as well as basketball makes a lot of sense.

According to Kansas.com, the Shockers will forfeit all previously earned NCAA Tournament units to the Missouri Valley Conference they’re leaving, but otherwise there’s no exit fee. Having Wichita for everything else balances out having Navy for just football. This seems like a win-win here, especially if the Shockers are willing to punt a few years of revenue sharing for the upgrade in competition.

Although this isn’t a total solution for all sports as not everyone in the league offers every sport such as baseball, softball, swimming, rowing, etc... it does help for men’s and women’s basketball tremendously.

A quick poll of our blog writers shows none of us have ever been to Wichita, home of USF men’s basketball alumni JAWANZAA Poland, and not much else of which we’re aware. But they sell a lot of tickets, the arena looks really weird but cool, and it’s also named after a metric ****ton of evil (#STICKTOSPORTS nope not when they put their name on arenas USF will play in).

So what say you? Happy about the Bulls adding Kansas to the travel route?"

              • I mean I know they have a good history but a few of them are really beyond logical, which is weird, considering they are a basketball school. To be fair, a lot of them are trying to drown out the 3 or 4 riffraffs that think WSU would be a hindrance to the league.
                Deuces Valley.
                ... No really, deuces.

I sympathize with them. We've been pissed/bitter/depressed about Creighton leaving us and the state of the Valley for the last 4 years. Can you imagine going from the top conference in the country to the 7th? At least for us, our basketball has hit unbelievable levels while our conference has become absolute crap. I'm sure the hate/depression would have been exponential if we had been suffering down years while also experiencing the sinking of our conference.

What I don't understand is why they wouldn't be pretty happy about our add, but I think the non-trolling ones are. I also think, as addressed above, that UConn was one of the driving forces behind our likely invitation.

I also think it is slightly ironic because a good deal of the reason the AAC has been down the last year or so is because UConn hasn't been UConn. Their basketball has been rough and their football is almost always terrible.

I like the guy that refers to our addition as "gross". See ya' next season and please try not to drag our RPI down!

I warned everyone not to go over there lol. I am gonna choose to believe the UConn fan that posted about them in this thread. I think that site is just full of idiots lol. The UConn posters that have come here and the ones on the AAC board have been pretty supportive. I am going to believe they represent the majority and not the ones on the boneyard. I will for now at least. If it starts to spill over to this board or the AAC one then the gloves come off lol

                              • The posters on The Graveyard who don't want WSU want UConn out of the AAC. They've got the same problem WSU had - where to go? It seems UConn's Athletic Department has figured out that their FB team isn't going to get a nibble in a higher conference. Some UConn fans don't perceive the same reality.

I'm reminded a bit of a combination of a KU fan and an East Coast fan.
