      True story.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

            • U conn and cinn rumored to be joining the B12.....AAC will either implode or be looking for new members...if nothing else it could start a domino effect that would help WSU relocate.

              • Stuff like this is why places like the big east and a10 feel a lot safer.

Big East, if possible, is where it's at IMO. Basketball only conference that won't be affected by the machinations of football.

I get it. "Big east will never happen yada yada". I'm not getting my hopes up for the anything but the MVC (which I still like and think is always underrated) but if we were going to make a move and multiple options were on the table, that's where I'd prefer.

How is the A-10 safe when the BE could pick off Dayton and St Louis (both private Catholic schools)? I don't even want to look up how far, far away our closest conference game would be.

                    • I'm curious about how we finance the other sports joining the Big East. I would think travel costs for all sports would increase exponentially. Has there been any info from Creighton on how this has impacted their overall athletic budget?

OK. I did look it up. If we were to join the A-10 and after that, Dayton and St Louis went to the BE, our closest conference mate is in Pittsburgh, PA, 1,035 miles away. Next is Fairfax, VA, 1085 miles.

Don't think Shocker fans would be traveling near as well as they are now.

The A-10 is just not viable unless there was a Western Division developed.

It has helped. The increased revenue from the Big East has offset all travel costs, plus added to the athletic revenue stream. The only team sport that has been hurt by the move is baseball. The Big East is a big downgrade in baseball. As the Big East moves forward, NCAA shares will begin to eclipse NCAA shares from the Valley.

I would love to see WSU in the Big East, but there are so many hurdles. That said, any moves by the Big 12 will have an impact that could benefit the Shockers. Elgin has to be shaking in his boots, knowing that if the Big 12 expands, the Valley's meal ticket just might leave. Looking at the Valley today, if Wichita State leaves, the perception of that conference might be no better than the Summit.

                            • Even if the AAC were to lose Cincy and UConn, the AAC would likely pick up maybe UMass to replace UConn and an a more western school from their old C-USA or two teams from C-USA, one east, one west.

Any addition they would add would be no worse than a mid Valley team, maybe better.

                              • If the AAC loses Uconn and Cincy, they would almost have to give WSU a look.

Moving there would be less exciting as if those 2 were still in, but Tulsa and Memphis would be nice games to add on a yearly basis.

Also would perhaps cause the BE to seriously consider adding programs as the major conferences start vamping up to 12-14-16 teams. I dont know. Maybe. Still a long shot.

I know that they want to stay private, but who bolsters the conference more? Dayton and St Louis or Wichita State? Just looking at the cache WSU brings with their HC alone.

Dollars speak in the end, me thinks. And WSU gives them more weight.
